Stupid question for the day, does open food spoil?

I've spent the last couple of games opening every can I come across, even ones I don't need. Both to let people know there is someone else around and we aren't all asshats and to help out people who may not have a can opener.

 

But am I inadvertently poisoning other players?

I always open all of my cans as I place them in my pack. I have never gotten sick and I have never seen any evidence of spoiling.

Nein, not as of yet. Fruits did a while back. Dunno if thats still a Thing.

I was afraid they'll spoil too if I popped them and kept them in my inventory. 
And that's a really nice thing you do, opening cans for bambies. I feel bad that I never even thought of that. Thanks for the kind tip. :)

I bet spoiling will be a thing in the future. If a can is damaged, maybe there will be a chance for it yielding spoiled contents.
