DayZ FPS Help

Recommended Posts

I need some help, when i am in the open or in the woods i get 50-60FPS but as soon as i look into the city or enter the city or even go into a small village my FPS drops down to about 20-26, also the mouse isnt really as smooth when in the citties, is there any way i can smoothen the mouse in the city so it is more enjoyable to play?

Specs:

Graphics: AMD Radeon r9 270X Series

CPU: i5 3350P @ 3.10GHz
RAM: 8GB Dual-Channel DDR3

This is normal, as the game is still in development. Expect it to change soon enough (some say in this experimental already).

Nope, it's a game. I'm waiting for this miracle called 'optimisation' since early access has been launched, however not much happened till now. Game doesnt load my new 970 gtx as well as my CPU isn't loaded even for 50%. No idea how people can enjoy first person shooter game with 15-30 fps :(

Im thinking of getting a SSD to make the game run alot smoother but is it worth it;/

You're doing something majorly wrong then, because performance has majorly increased for me over the past months.

Well, i meant it's still too bad. Yes, they are probably working on it, yes, it's alpha stage and i will wait till the release - however i dont really trust this game anymore. I dont really think that 20-30 fps in the cities and significant fps drops when you're trying to enter some buildings is something that we could call 'majorly increased perfomance'.

For example, last exp. build

AVG GPU usage: 30-50%

AVG CPU usage: 40-50%

Objects - decrease it if you haven't got a powerful CPU, Very low should be ok for 2-4 cores Amd Cpus and 2 cores Intel Cpus (2 Threads), low and normal for 2-4 cores Intel Cpus (4 Threads) and 6 cores Amd Cpus, high for 8 cores Amd Cpus and 4 cores Intel Cpus (4-8 Threads) and very high for 4+ cores Intel Cpus (8+ Threads).

Objects set to very low, cause it's the only one and single setting that could affect perfomance on my system.

Game is running on GTX 970 OC edition, 16gb ddr3 1600 mhz and overclocked i5 3570k (4x 4.3ghz).

No zombies in sight, no humans in sight, my PC works perfect with 60+ fps on ultra high setting by the witcher 3 (that has really poor perfomance by the way, otherwise i would not compare this games).

AVG FPS in DAYZ at all cities and villages: 20-30, unstable, with drops and freezes.

The only 1 thing i did wrong — waiting for this game for almost 2 years and bying it at 2013, cause after all this years optimisation it's still not playable. DayZ mod was much better game expirience...

The only setting that alters your performance is your object detail?

I don't believe you.

Follow of those guys out there that are around hundreds of times. One thing to keep in mind:

the higher the ingame graphics settings with a high end system the better the FPS. I have a mildly okay systeem for gaming, yet it prefers it being rendered at 4K rather than the normal resolution and my GPU use is at 100%

Is there no way you can add a setting into the config to make the mouse more smoother when you get into the city? or isnt there? and is it a good idea to get a SSD to play the game from? ive heard that the FPS is alot better when ran on an SSD

Well, i'm using SSD's for my both drives (C and D, system and games). SSD should boost your load time and could even boost the FPS in various games (not in the all games).

I'm not able to say how exactly does ssd affect dayz, cause i dont have any hdd to compare, but generaly i would recomend you to buy it (if you have free money), you will be not dissapointed (hope so).

Because DayZ uses a certain system to store the files the game will greatly benefit from an SSD. It's infact the only game I would always store on an SSD.

Would a 120GB SSD be more than enough to store games on such as Arma 3 and DayZ?

Should be fine, but seeing as the curent prices are really low, I'd opt for a bigger one.

This is one i have found, would you recommend these?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B00P736UEU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433082814&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+850evo+250gb

Also when i go into my rendering settings in game and change the Antialiasing down from high to low the game crashes, so i re open it and its still stuck on High, even if i try and rise it up to normal it still crashes the game?

I have fixed the crashing, but my FPS seems to be a little better but i am now experiencing major FPS drops where ever i go, i run off into the open or into a building and my FPS keeps droping from 40 odd to 15-17

wow, never heard dayz would perform better with ssd before, guess i'll have to try that next

only thing so far on my ssd is WoT to reduce map loading time, but if i can get more fps for dayz instead i'll throw WoT on my HDD right away again xD

edit: now that i think about it, of course a map which textures aren't all loaded into ram completely and which has different LOD terrain has to be loaded from the harddrive during playing... especially in cities... *derp*
