FPS: Do any low settings make performance WORSE?

Recommended Posts

I heard that some settings set to very low or low can make FPS worse than if they were set to high. Has anyone found this to be the case? What settings should be set to high for FPS increase only?

I believe that some settings will put the load on the CPU when the GPU could be doing the work.

The best way is to experiment and find what is best for your PC build.

Some discussion on this can be found here...

There are none that I am aware of, though there are some setting that have a negligible impact on performance between their lowest and highest settings.

Use Rivatuner OSD while you play to evaluate the impact each setting has on your machine at each level. That's what I did and I wound up going from all low settings to mostly highest settings without losing frames. I basically ended up having to leave objects on the lowest setting, but everything else is cranked up.
