New Player - Hardcore makes me Motion Sick due to Head Bob even when slider is off

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I am a new player to DayZ SA and have not played the Mod. And first time on the forum too.

  • I really like Hardcore mode but i noticed it has a head bob feature even when i turn the head bob slider all the way to off.
  • Some times it makes me feel a bit sick, esp when entering houses with light colored floors.
  • Is there a way to remove head bob 100% in first person mode?
  • I searched "head bob" on the forums and could not find additional information.

I don't want to be forced to play 3pp, but that seems like where 80% of the players play. I am sure if head bob is removed (like skyrim) then more people will join 1pp servers.

Unfortunately I think your out of luck, the headbob slider doesn't stop the slight motion they use to simulate your feet moving and I am pretty sure there is no way to make it totally smooth.  I have a hard time thinking of ANY shooters nowadays that don't have at least a little wiggle in the camera when you move, not sure what it is about dayz and arma that make some people so motion sick.

Did you try to increase your field of view? FoV being to small might also be a reason why people feel sick.

Oh - and motion blur/bloom. You might want to test different settings here as well.

I have

headBob=0;

in my config but still used to get queasy. I've never experienced it before in any other fps.

From what I've found having a narrow fov and low/stuttering frames per second is the reason for motion sickness. If I'm getting 20+ I'm ok but if I'm stuttering down to low teens then back above 30+ for a while I'll get it. Unfortunately widening your fov will probably have a slight impact on your frames.

I found adding ssd helped a bit but ultimately we're are waiting for optimization.
