bfisher 561 Posted May 17, 2015 I don't mean to start another "OMG THIS GAME SUCKS IT WILL NEVER RELEASE BLAH BLAH BLAH!!" thread, but was there a recent update that just rendered the game unplayable for people? I've been playing off and on like a couple of hours every odd week or so and, general clunkiness and whatnot aside, I can basically play the game as intended. Not today though. Specifically:Logged in where I last logged off on the top floor of some city hall building in the Northeast. Fine. All my inventory shortcuts are gone. Can't equip my collection of guns and other equipment.I spot a either a zombie or character in the stairwell, but he seems stuck and running in place. Log off since everything is acting flaking. I log back in and I've respawned as a new character. Ok, fine. Maybe that other guy came too and killed me as I was logging off. Try another server just to be sure. Having trouble picking up items. Try another server. I appear to log back in a state I was in about 10 minutes ago (ie my new jacket is missing). Having trouble opening doors.
Evil Minion 943 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Looks like you ran into two server crashes. Maybe it's not even a DayZ issue but rather a server one. You played on .55 right?Having trouble picking up items? You mean you can see them in vicinity but double click/take does not do anything? An issue that plagued DayZ for quite a while. I picture it as your server-side character hitbox lagging behind probably getting stuck on something (zombies will attack this and not you if it happens as well). Try walking back and "fetching" your hitbox.Having trouble opening doors? There is a recent bug where server-side and client-side doors do not match. If you try to open a door that is already open on the server you will close it (does play a sound - at least sometimes). Trying to open it again will actually make it happen and returns you back to sync. Edited May 17, 2015 by Evil Minion

LoveAffair 329 Posted May 17, 2015 Yes it has , Ever sense they went back to the Legacy loot system , and im sure another week will go by as i sit and look out my window and wonder why... WHY did a few people that live on Canned food make them do it after teasing us with how good it could have been... And i'm sure another week will go by with nothing but a report with a million words and quotes i can't understand. But Thats just me... Back to looking out the window :(
harteman 155 Posted May 18, 2015 Sounds like the server crashed, and you unfortunately lost your character by joining the server as it was restarting (known bug). This might have happened again in the second server. The way I figure out if the server has crashed is by right-clicking an item in my inventory. If it gets stuck saying it is receiving for more than a few seconds the server has crashed. It can be annoying... As for losing your character, learn to avoid joining a server right as it is restarting. I think it will say 08:00hrs during this time.

I think it will say 08:00hrs during this time. this is true - not a good idea to try to hop into servers as soon as they restart, if you really feel the need wait until you see at least three or four players on therealso IMO servers that restart often are not a good place to play

Back to looking out the window :(I think you know why they reverted the changes in the CLE last patch. You just choose to ignore them as being valid. You can always just play EXP, as it's got what you are looking for, at least in regards to scarcity of loot. CLE has a lot of potential, but we have seen that it can also be absolutely horrible, based on server conditions. I think it is the correct path, but it will likely be a couple months of a very difficult transition until they get the major bugs worked out.
8bit_Survivor 93 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) Beside the above mentioned, sometimes leaving the building your are having trouble looting and then vaulting will allow you to pick up items. I believe it updates your position to the server reliably which brings you back into sync. Also, there WAS a problem with the CLE. Some servers were spawning under the minimum required number of items. This was a per server problem and mentioned by devs in a status report I believe. bfisher 561 Posted May 19, 2015 Guess it was just a bad day, server-wise. Too bad about the character, but I kind of felt a need to start fresh anyway.
