Proffesional Alpha/beta tester

Recommended Posts

So how do I start this...I consider my self a professional alpha/beta tester I have seen allot of games coming and going.

Allot of people I see in this forum I don't think have the experience me and some other players around here, If your one of those then this is the topic for you.

So alpha test is what it sounds like it is basically a game where you can move around in the world and do some basic things so for DayZ it would be walk around and use weapons. Now even easy stuff like that can have bugs in early alpha like shoot throe walls or fall throe the ground.

Now DayZ have gone a bit further then that so we can feel safe that if we walk on the ground we won't die or if we hide in a house the bandit can shoot us throe the wall unless its meant to work.

Now we can still fall throe stairs or similar "complex objects" I guess everyone knows about the ship outside of svetlo.

Now we have a limited amount of trucks I'm pretty sure they was implemented so the dev.'s could see what was wrong with them and we found a bunch of problems with them.

everything from zombies getting stuck on the back of the truck to hitting walls that are not there.

Now my point is! This is an alpha expect things like this to happened and 1001 other things that I have not listed here.

If you don't like it then I'm sorry but you should wait until the game is in beta it will still have bugs but it will be better and if you still don't like it then wait for the full release.

Now before you decide to leave this game remember this: What we do here testing the game is really important for the dev.'s they cant find all the bugs and most lightly we won't either but we will make the game better in time if we report what we find. report everything even the stuff your not sure is a bug because what you find might just solve 10 other things that's related to your bug. so unless this is world of tanks made by a company that I will not mention by name then all bug reports will be looked at and YOUR bug report might just be the one that brings this game from alpha to beta.

Beta testing (the fun bugs)

We are now in beta what I call the fun test because you can take your sporter .22 and shoot a zombie in electro and it flies of and lands on some ones head in svetlo

at this point the game is some what stable we prob. have a new graphics engine so the game looks better to and you prob. have allot of laughs and content for YouTube with funny scenes the hardest thing in beta is to write the bug report while laughing your ass of at the keyboard and trying to upload the movie to YouTube with all the fun stuff that have happened to you and your friends the last hour.

But it is still as important to do this even now because bugs have a tendency to get worse. next time your fully geared friend might die from the zombie you shot in electro and landed on his head in svetlo.

So do me a favor report it in a nice manor instead of bitching about it in the forum and saying the dev.'s don't do their jobs because I have seen allot worse then this game.

Thank you for reading: and stay safe out there

I know a guy on another forum has just signed up to be a professional alpha/beta tester I'll ask him. Apparantly he reckons he has to focus on small areas of the game repeatedly and it's not as much fun as you think.

I don't think the aim of a professional tester is shoot a head off a zombie so it lands on your someone's head in Svetlo - but I could be wrong.

Whats the salary like as a professional alpha/beta tester?

DayZ I do not get anny payment i'm doing this by free will because I think this game have potential.

But some games I beta tested I get the finished game for free so if you ask me if you can do this as a living then no I'm allso a caretaker at a elementry school

In some aspects you are right in really early games you might be confined to a small area and basicly do what your told to while another person gains information of what your doing. I have not been apart of anny alphas thats that early but early anought for me not to be able to mention anny specs of the game

Not very good. Unless you become a test manager. In Germany, where I work as a tester, the salary for QA starts at around 36 000 EUR (in comparison, a junior programmer starts at around 45 000 EUR).

This thread just made my morning coffee so much better. :D

'Professional Tester' - then says he tests dayz and occassionally gets a game for free not even mentioning the horrible grammar and incoherent writing.

With the advent of early access we are all beta testers so to speak. And we pay them to test. Game companies are loving it right now. No more paying people to find bugs. We pay them, they profit.

You know beside testing you need to write your finding summary as well. How can you be a pro ? I suggest you concentrated on school first

He explained that a) English isn't his first language, b ) that he is dyslexic and c) he didn't know the correct term for 'experienced' and used the closest one he knew of which was 'professional'.

So yeah, before you start insulting people about their lack of punctuation and spelling errors ensure that you have read all the information presented to you.

lol coming from a random named surf polar please tell me how that's coherent at all better yet don't drink your coffee and keep it to yourself. You guys don't pay attention enough to a post at all to even be trying to come on here and point at random misspellings on A post on a video game forum, he said he's from Sweden as in English is not his native language as if that wasn't obvious  and on top of it he stated he had dyslexia..Please keep your short-sighted comments to yourselves its really not difficult.

I believe this game will be the first and possibly only successful steam Alpha game to make it out of alpha due to its large number of talented streamers big and small and a very strong and creative community and intensely interactive developers  although occasionally the DayZ Unitology Extremists come at them screaming "Dayz Development is taking too long, The mod Made us whole" and very few developers keep at updates this large for this long while at the same time promoting its streamers whether they be well known or not its its the creativity that's cared for not their popularity ( I think the graveyard should have a sub forum called the "DayZ Unitology Extremists" for people who even post about "DayZ Development is taking too long" they know who they are...)

Thank you so much! At least one person reads my entire posts.

I do struggle with English, but from experience I'd say it is good enough for people with a decent enough intelligence to understand me.

So If no one else have anything else to add to this topic then the mods can lock this post
