Rotting Corpse Loot Spawn

Recommended Posts

Spawning of rotting corpses as part of the Loot table would suit the atmosphere nicely.  Many spawns are near beds, chairs, and open floor which should leave enough room for a fly ridden corpse.  Maybe increase the likelyhood in "hot" heat map areas.

Thoughts?

Good idea! Could also translate well into the disease mechanic, I'm pretty sure if you were loot some food off a fly ridden corpse it's bound to have some kind of disease attached to it

So long as the food was fully encapsulated (cans or packaging), and you heat it up properly, there is no way you would get sick by eating food you find on a corpse, even if the corpse was rotting.

Now, HANDLING the corpse, on the other hand, is dangerous if you have scratches or other wounds on your hands.

But that is what gloves are for.

On top of people having love fetishes for corpses.

Yep, in need of some new shoes as feet getting sore.  Pretty decent pair attached to that decaying meat...

You can safely assume that Chernarus survivors do have scratches/wounds on their hand or even feet. Also eating with the same gloves you handled the corpse with or putting on clothes worn by it without cleaning them first might not be the smartest idea either.

I would like it more if instead of having random corpses spawning all over the map dead players should gradually turn into them. So instead of despawning after a few minutes corpses should draw the attention of scavengers (zombies, wolves, crows). Those scavengers might feed from the corpse destroying/removing gear over time (depending on type) and increasing the risk of disease. Over time rot might set in increasing disease risk even further, causing flies to appear and also destroying/removing some gear. The final stage might be a skeleton with only the heaviest and most resilient gear still on it.

Rocket always said that he wanted to keep this kind of stuff to an absolute minimum. He prefers the idea of player's actions dictating the "lore" of DayZ, rather than props etc.

Rocket wanted to keep any story elements to a minimum (ie. words written in blood on a wall).  I think it would be safe to have the odd dead corpse spawn given that player corpses vanish after a while.  it would compensate for the lack.
