BroskyBro 21 Posted April 4, 2015 Hey, sorry for making two post today already. But I just logged on and while the timer for me to log in was going down a zombie killed me. I heard the zombie growling above me as soon as I logged in and it said unconscious, I woke up and was mauled over in half a second, then again, then died. Can you make us invisible to zombies but not players when we log in?
Jonah_Hobbes 171 Posted April 4, 2015 Yeah try not to log in/change server in silly places. It's happened to me, you'll learn not to log in in bad places.
Jonah_Hobbes 171 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Sorry I was flippant and I'm assuming you are not trolling or a server hopper. When you want to stop playing go and find an place that looks safe from other players and Z's. A bush off the side of a road or behind a building if you are in town. You'll get to feel if a place is safe to exit the game or not. Just understand that if you exit a game in town you'll always increase the chance of getting attacked by a random Z or even another player if you log in or out in a hot spot. IgnobleBasterd 161 Posted April 4, 2015 What if you get kicked or disconnected? You don't always leave a server by your own choice, you know.
Jonah_Hobbes 171 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) What if you get kicked or disconnected? You don't always leave a server by your own choice, you know. Yep it sucks. But in DayZ life is random. Look at when the server is likely to restart and don't hang around in hotspots when you are going to be kicked. Edited April 4, 2015 by Jonah_Hobbes

My ISP is having 'issues' at the moment, and I lost connection about every 20-30 min, just long enough to get booted from server. It will be nice when my ISP gets reliability back. ☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted April 4, 2015 This is always a big fear for me and thankfully I've never been killed from it. Unfortunately, lost connections, unexpected server restarts, and every other form of random disconnect can happen. :( IF you have a choice, never log out somewhere you feel infected may spawn and preferably log out in a house or the woods. I've always wanted something to prevent me from being killed while Scotty is beaming me onto the map but if we do get something it will likely be later in the development of the game. S3V3N 1402 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) I logged on today after a restart in a village and there was a zombie walking 5 meters in front of me. It didn't seem to get aggro, despite the distance and me standing up. I could easily shoot it. However, my friend got spawned in a nearby city and got killed by zombies, before he was even able to see anything. It's a bit odd how heightened the zombie senses are inside cities. I wonder if there really is a difference in their behaviour in cities and in the countryside. It might have been that he spawned right onto the zombie, of course. But that is just a lot of bad luck then and won't happen very often. What Jonah said is right in 90% or more of the time. You can usually avoid these areas, once you play a server some more and get to know when it restarts. It is still beyond me, why we don't get a restart warning. As I heard some of the private shard servers do that. At least until things are really stable and persistant, it would be nice to know when exactly the server restarts. Was on a random server and got a restart warning from 15mins to 10 to 5 to 1 min. I ran back to the police station I'd just looted :P
Blippy 26 Posted April 5, 2015 Yeah try not to log in/change server in silly places. It's happened to me, you'll learn not to log in in bad places. Sorry, not everyone changes servers in order to server hop. Something else could cause them to disconnect randomly, like the frequent, regular, unannounced server restarts that they didn't see coming. Hello? Is anyone even here?
