Hey, I'm interested in learning how to make mods for DayZ. Where would be a good source for learning about that?

That question is a little broad. What part of DayZ modding are you interested in? I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to point you in some good directions, but you might want to narrow the focus of your question a bit.

Start by opening and reviewing the vanilla mod's .pbo files.  You'll run into issues immediately but a couple Google searches later and you'll be looking at the code.

Making new skins and textures. At some point to make a full alternate version like Epoch or DayZ+

I am just like you wanting to learn how to do it. So many resources but not ones for new people.

 

I too was going to get a server, and run modding on it.
