Just to be on the safe side, I would say re-install, Steam may look for it in the old directory, but, then again, you can change the launch path, still, re-install is safest.

P.S.: Nice avatar, might want to drop by the MLP thread :)

You'll have to set up a Steam directory on the new drive. Just because you manually make a directory and name it Steam, doesn't mean that Steam will look for it, or use it. It's probably best to have Steam do it for you, so that there are no mistakes. It will be less aggrivating in the long run.

Steam is really easy to deal with this.

Follow these steps:

  1. Top left of Steam, click "Steam"
  2. Click on "Settings" in the dropdownmenu
  3. In the Window that now opened, click "Downloads"
  4. Click on "STEAM LIBRARY FOLDERS" at the top
  5. Click "Add library folder"
  6. Specify the SSD you want and the folder you want it in (I suggest creating a folder named "Steam" on the SSD)
  7. After you have done that, go to that Steam-folder you just created and create a folder named "common" in there
  8. Cut & Paste over the DayZ Folder from the existing position on your other HDD.
  9. Now uninstall DayZ in Steam and Reinstall again.
  10. When being asked where to install when installing DayZ, make sure to select the newly created library on your SSD.

A lot of text and a lot of words, but really it's simple and saves a lot of time when reinstalling a computer.

Please note that I cannot confirm any of the following will work. I'm just theorizing. :D

Here's one link that might help: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

That talks about moving everything though, which may not be your intent. I know on my system I have two locations for games. One is on a standard HDD and the other is on a SSD. When I install a game, I can choose between either one. I can't remember exactly how I did it though. I think in your case, you might be able to simply create a new folder on the SSD and then copy all the game files from the original directory to the new one. Make sure you keep the same folder structure that Steam uses (/SteamApps/common/DayZ) inside the new folder. I'd rename the original folder to something else just in case moving stuff doesn't work. I assume (not positive though) that when you start Steam it'll say it can't find the files and ask if there's a new location. Point it to your new folder and see what happens.

EDIT: Look at kichi being all slick with a numbered list and shit.

It doesn't matter what you call it. It's just not recommended to put it in the root of the SSD, as it will clutter everything up. But that's just my German efficiency, there's no technical drawbacks.
