sneakydudes 278 Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) I am wondering what your thoughts are of the bags we currently have and the item storage we have now.Food items, such as cooking pot, tripod, food items, and having protective gear w/bags How do you feel about the storage system in place now? Fixed it Edited February 26, 2015 by FIRMSneakydude
Whyherro123 2283 Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) In real life, I generally do not carry cooking equipment with me: it is too big, bulky, and heavy to cart around. If I HAVE to take it with me, it gets strapped to the outside of the pack. Such as it should be in Day Z. Leave stuff you don't need "right now" at a "base camp", then scout around for supplies. When changing "base camp", then you've got to do an inventory shuffle to carry everything. Also, carry light. IRL, anything that can be strapped on the outside of the backpack is carried in that fashion, and anything that is empty gets stuff stuffed into it. Generally, I store my food inside of my cooking pot. I also wouldn't carry a honking humongous metal tripod to set up a pot on: I would make one in the field out of sticks, or balance the pot on some rocks. As for choosing between certain items and "valuable things" like the Ghillie.....that is kind of the POINT. You shouldn't be able to wear a Ghillie AND have everything you need. The Devs changed clothing "size" so small shirts and such only take up one slot. If anything, they should remove the clothings capability to store things when inside another object, to represent the clothing being folded/rolled/squished up to conserve space. Much better than before. As for your Ghillie conundrum, make a "hide" beforehand: stash water and opened cans of food in the spot you want to hide before you get there. They might take twice the space, but you can pack them with pockets full; I've done it plenty IRL: Loadouts.
Valdenburg 200 Posted February 26, 2015 Sometimes I am only able to carry 1-2 cans and 2 pet bottles if I use hot items. Even if it was gorka, plus a ghillie hood I can heat up. Am confused - are we talking now about storage systems or the heat once? :DFor me it just sounds that you want your play style buffed - ofc when you wear ghillie parts you will heat up - also only way to have more storage with a full ghillie is to have the smersh vest with pouche - and i don´t see anything wrong with that system. sneakydudes 278 Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) If a survivor is trying to live in the woods, and to move storage items around might be very difficult in the future. Look at the current state with the cooking materials now. - please don't turn this into a sniper or ghillie thread, its about the current bag space sizes and the items for cooking sizes. Wookieenoob 191 Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) I am wondering what your thoughts are of the bags we currently have and the item storage we have now.Food items, such as cooking pot, tripod, food items, and having protective gear w/bags -I would like to see a good change, for food cooking items so that it doesn't take up too much room if we are carrying ghillie and other items of value to us. Sometimes I am only able to carry 1-2 cans and 2 pet bottles if I use hot items. Even if it was gorka, plus a ghillie hood I can heat up. I feel a change might need to be made in the future so we can store cooking equipment. How do you feel about the storage system in place now?Even if it was gorka, plus a ghillie hood I can heat up. actually gorka full causes you to overheat with just a radar cap and a SPOSN pack. i suggest getting soaking in this stage of the alpha being as you dry off very fast on hot servers. i actually find heating quite easy to manage. i feel like i should be able to put a weapon on my other shoulder. DURRHUNTER 597 Posted February 26, 2015 Once they add pans/small skillets i will probably carry one around to cook with, as i plan to live off the land, breakfast shall be hash browns and deer meat 'n' gravy
sneakydudes 278 Posted February 26, 2015 Once you see what is coming out you may change your mind. If they bring all the cooking utilities or methods into the game, you may not be able to carry much of anything to the woods. If reorganizing bag spaces or items will solve this then there is no reason why one wouldnt aim to get a mountain backpack for storage. When persistence is working the way its intended, and tents work to store the cooking items we wont really have a problem. Its the initial carrying space now that might pose an issue.
Bonappetit 117 Posted February 26, 2015 I don't wear backpacks and I feel I always have room.
