emuthreat 2837 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) What about long range scopes? Cant find anyThe houses with the barn (gambrel) roofs have been pretty productive, with the "L" shaped couch. I found 3 damaged LRS and a pristine PU (Grandma's house shelf) last night. Edited February 25, 2015 by emuthreat
lrp1984 199 Posted February 25, 2015 What is it with you people? Why did you people even buy the game if all you want to do is play it without any other players? Why did you even spend money on the thing when all you're going to do is go to empty servers and gear up your characters like cowards who don't want any risk or competition? It's pathetic. It's downright pathetic. I don't think I've even bothered with a public server since November. If you don't want server hoppers, find a decent private server and make it your home. SpoonsandForks 78 Posted February 25, 2015 For me, mosin spawns are all over the place, but the most common ones have so far been:1. O'l grandmas house, small yellow/blue on one side, brown on the other, one room. granny didn't F around.2. Blue trailers parked here and there, SKS and mosins now and then.3. Red brick house with the vaulted doors, up the useless stairs I've found both Blaze and Mosin.Don't forget to check the brick pubs and Sofa-houses for compensators and LRS. They also spawn on the roofs of buildings (that have accessable roofs). I have seen them on apartment roofs quite often.
NoPaEr10 50 Posted February 25, 2015 In a green house. That one with 2 rooms on the upper floor, I found one outside of the rooms and one in the first room. But yes, they are rare. Exchanged it for a MP-133 shotgun, because I couldn't find ammo. Also, unless you want to kill fresh spawns or camp the airfields, the Mosin is quite useless. Of course you can kill other player with it, but the usage is limited. You can't use it for short distances because the reload time is too long. You need accurate aiming and patience. If you miss, you won't get another chance once your target runs in circles. Otherwise, it is a good hunting rifle. If you hit, it kills. Personally I prefer the SKS, although I used to use a Mosin for almost the complete last year. Enough said
hekp 223 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) As much as i agree mosin is full of awesome, this video just shows a bunch of newbies being slaughtered lol. With situation awarness like that, a screwdriver could kill all 7. umberfive 89 Posted February 26, 2015 Enough saidHe's got skills, but the video is from a time when weapon sway wasn't in the game. He also had enough time between every shot to reload. And it is still not sniping. But that is another story.
blackberrygoo 1416 Posted February 27, 2015 Lopatino-Vybor-Toploniki line. There are several log buildings with blue stripes.More explanation:Smallest log building with blue stripes, has the entrance door fairly at the left of the bdg. When you enter, theres a fridge and a mini cooking stand at your left, at your right theres a bed, at the right corner of this bed, thats where you find mosins or various other weapons. The bdg has ONE room, and Is even smaller than the grey shacks found at villages (or maybe saame size)This. This is where I find all my moisins for some reason after .54 hit stable , can't find me anywhere else !
blunce 991 Posted February 27, 2015 NWAF, run to the sniper nests and check them. No Mosin? Server hop to a new server. Rinse and repeat. Are you legitimately encouraging server hoping? Or are you trolling..
HappyXceed (DayZ) 28 Posted March 2, 2015 Hey everyone was hoping you all could help me out. I usually tend to only use the sks and once in a while akm or ak101. But recently i been trying to learn how to snipe and change things up but i cant seem to find a mosin anymore. i found one a week ago wound up dieing to a bug and have not been able to find another since. Anyone have any good locations to check? certain buildings? cities? any help would be much appriciated. Thanks muchLol the time and day he posted this was around the time, and on the day i found 2 mosins in 5 minutes of spawning in :p
TheScruffyBandit 382 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) I've found 3 since the 0.54 patch hit, that said they do feel a little rarer now.... however, that's likely because more weapons are now sharing the same weapon spawn points making the chances of finding a specific one less likely. Personally I think it's a good thing, In a survival situation people wouldn't be being particually picky about the firearm they picked up, just having a gun and some ammo would be the goal, so people having to use weapons besides the most favored ones (AKM, Mosin, SKS and repeater seem the most used weapons judging by people I've killed) is good news in my book. edit: As for the usefulness of the Mosin compared to other options, all things are situational. I like to use the Mosin + LRS when I'm playing in a squad to provide overwatch and I'll use a pistol, usually the CR75, 1911 or revolver as a "close in" or emergency breeching weapon. When I'm playing solo I often gravitate towards the SKS as it's easily found, a decent all rounder and doesn't require me to spend much time in dangerous, high value locations. One more unusual combo I've been messing around with lately has been the MP133 and the longhorn, since it's feels kind of backwards to me to have a "long range" handgun and a shotgun primary for close range, it takes me out of my comfort zone and that has lead to some interesting incounters.
