Plant material for fire fuel?

I'm pretty sure I've read that the plant material is supposed to be used for fertilizer in the near future but I was wondering if we may also be able to use it as fuel on fires. Even in the position of rags / paper? It would be nice to "clean up" areas after as well for the days where base building is upon us. Currently I'm working in a particular area and there is plant material everywhere... I've tried throwing it in the fire but it just sits there. 

 

I've seen another suggestion about using it for ghillie crafting- possibly in exchange for or as a supplement to burlap strips? I think that would be a great use for the material as well.

 

Anyway- just a thought.

I didn't know it wasn't implemented yet and kept trying to use it on my greenhouses...it would be nice to use as a fuel source even if it's a 'quick' burn like a piece of paper.  I think it would have to be 'dried' plant material though before it burns (or burns well anyway) and would probably cause smoke if used green.

I do like the idea of burning trash as a means of cleaning up things.  Unless they make it so you can cut rags from ruined clothing (and make badly damaged rags) there's gonna be a lot of gear just tossed aside giving people false hope.

I'm going to go ahead and necro bump this since dispensing with plant material is proving to be a real PITA. On top of it I can't find any animals to kill to mix guts with plant material to create fertilizer and the stuff doesn't burn. Any input on what future opportunities we will have to use plant material? Any idea on what future intent is? 

 

While I haven't tested it specifically- I've heard whispers that accumulating plant material in a relatively close space (ie: a camp) may contribute to some graphic anomalies... I'd like to be able to see it ruined in 30 minutes (or a plant growth cycle time), or be able to burn it as kindling... Anything but have it lay around uselessly.

I think in the current stable build, the system has a bug that don't clean up stuff on ground accordingly to the timer set on each type of items. I'm not sure but I think the new experimental build for .58 that fixed camp lag is supposed to fix this as well. So the system should clean the plant material unused for a while on the ground.
