Best loot run for all new players

Recommended Posts

Feel like being helpful.

Hit electro - cherno - balota - north of Kamenka military base - zelenegorsk - Vybor & it's military base.. By then your NW (you decide what works for you, but at this point you should be ready to survive)

On a high pop server there's a 90% death rate on that run, or at least a 90% rate of facing death (especially by unnatural means) while under geared. If that gear run at all involves anything about server hopping forget it, that's chump advice. You'll spend an hour or two running to lose it quickly when you log back into a real server. Now that I think about it - this is the PVP "I don't know how to survive long" loot run. Gearing up by running through the most popular areas? That's about as good advice as starting a camp fire in the middle of Elektro and attempting to hand out food rations on Christmas day...

You can survive that run, no need to server hop.. That's my advice for a fresh spawn. You can stealth your way around/threw ELEKTRO & churno & grab what you need (minimul stuff) from balota on your good too... I just joined a server on private hive (because my public character I use to play with buddies-- my average life span is usually a week. This includes a handful of gunfights then usually some form of glitch death)... I spawned by prig mountain in the cost in a 40 man server, ran threw Churno - balota - north kamenka base.. That character literally has an ak w/ a drum and a 30 round mag, plenty of food. & goodish clothes. He is Prob an hour & a half old... Boo hoo

- what is wrong with this run? When I mentioned elektro and churno it's more to explain the path (because it's easier for new players) even on a full server most players can get threw these sites alive if they are careful..

Best route for a new player.. Try it a few times

This is either a troll or the worst new player thread I've ever even heard of. Why would anyone in their right mind move it here? Seriously? Like we don't have enough challenges as to deal with this ish?

MASSIVE mod fail.

MASSIVE mod fail.

He has labeled it best root run for new players hence why it was moved to new player discussion.  If he has gotten lucky on low pop servers or the like with this its up to you all to debate if the loot run could be better.  The bottom line regardless of the death rate there is high tier loot there hence why they are so popular.  If you would like to offer something better oblige him.  In the mean time as for your Massive mod fail comment well unfortunately I'd rather not damper a thread that can be discussed in length by seasoned players with valid input just because you dislike it.

I am offering new players better by my objection. Obviously you've forgotten what it's like to be new.

Objection is great, insight, advise and alternative routes is even better.

New players trust me!! You can find a military grade weapon to defend yourself & a lot of top tier gear/clothes on this route.. Maybe take it with a friend a couple times/ or always idc. All I know is that this is a direct route north, or you can take it only to zelenegorsk & follow the power lines east back to churno .. Idc. Me personally I avoid churno & electro (after initial spawn) unless I have a reason to return.

Imho this is untrue. This is hardly the most effective route for new players at all. On high population servers, as a new player, you are verry likely to die before you leave cherno/elektro. Not only are these heavy PvP area's, these are also common spawn areas meaning there are a lot more players here competing for the same loot which means less loot for you. If you somehow end up on more or less friendly server, you might luck your way trough a few times depending on how you behave yourself.

Which brings us to the next hurdle : Balota

In my experience : even on low population servers with only 3 - 10 people on, there is usually at least one person lurking around this area. And he is most likely to kill you on sight, rather than let you compete for military loot. Unexperienced as you are, he WILL spot you before you spot him. Unlike you, who has just magically survived an emptied out Cherno/elektro, he will have good weapon and kill you. Forcing you to respawn somewhere in the sticks, and ending this "run" immediatly.

I have spent many hours doing the "military run" from Kamenka up to NWE and back down again. Other than Kamenka, you are likely to run into people at every other possible military location. I usually make contact as soon as Zeleno or Green Mountain, but the real killer is surely Vybor, where you are most likely to get your head blown off. Im not even gonna talk about NWE and surrounding areas...

I did this run many times as a new player, and its verry frustrating to run around for hours, find a nice gun, exit the barracks and get instakilled. In the end, you learn stuff, and you learn to sneak and be stealthy, learn to spot people before they spot you, and in the end you willl have your AK + magazine and military attire.

Then you get careless and some fresh spawn ruins your clothings, and you can start all over again...or you get greedy and decide your gun looks cooler with a different handguard or scope, and you can start all over again...

You can learn the same skillset sneaking around normal villages or cities. Just remember that people can be found everywhere. And if you treat every situation the same, you will also be able to do it right when it matters most.

On my private characters i dont bother with military bases anymore. Gorka and TTsKO gear can be found in red barns all over the country side, or near UAZ wrecks all over the place. Same for assault vests and hunting backpacks and balistic helmets. You can find press vests in hospitals. And you can find a gun and some ammo in nearly every single village on the map. Everybody needs to drink/eat/build fires...so everybody lets their guard down at some point. If you ca surprise your enemy, you can do just fine with a homemade bow. And i find stealth and smart movement works better than any gun as self defense.  So why go to the areas where everybody who already has an assault rifle goes to look for more scopes/mags and other goodies...

Just my 2 cents

I understand what you are saying. But this is literally the run I do whenever I die... I've been playing this game since the mod came out. Maybe that's why I feel comfortable with it. But Im way more likely to die by a glitch then pvp. You guys make it sound like a suicide run.. Elektro & churno can be navigated safely 9 times out of 10 if your safety/steadily progressing w/ cover...many times Ive arrived to the first base without a gun (just do a mad dash there grabbing food and minimum loot along the way) when I feel the base is safe I loot it up, then of to Zelen & all the houses in and along the way.. At that point it depends on play style dude.. Don't give me a hard time, this is something I've succefully done countless times. Prepare, & plan... Stay in cover as long as possible bla bla

Its not my intention to give you a hard time, i even agree with you in a way. But let me put it differently : If you do this run and keep doing over and over again, like you have been doing since the mod, then yes, it will end up rewarding you and even feel easy. But we are talking about new players here, guys who start playing today. Guys who often cant even navigate this route properly and end up getting lost in the woods and could die of starvation if they make a single wrong turn.

If you want to condition a new player to the principle of doing loot runs, then why not have them start at something simple. Berezino is a common spawn location. If they practice a run where they hit (from the top my head) Gorka, Dubrovka, Krasnostav, NE airfield and back down to Berezino via Khelm, they learn the same basic principles like stealth, navigation and movement, while getting plenty of loot suited for new players. There is also far less of a risk of the run beeing ended short because less people frequent this area (aside from maybe Berezine and NEA), and more importantly : You stay alive longer to learn more, in a shorter time period. After the basics are learned like that, they will be able to perform the run you speak of, with a much higher success rate... But i also agree that dying in DayZ is a good way to learn stuff.

And on a side node : Again : i think military gear is highly overrated. Speaking from my experience, once you have good weapons and gear, EVERYONE wants a piece of it. Fresh spawns will come at you relentlessly because they got nothing to lose, geared players see you as a threat and will go out of their way to hunt you down. And the game becomes lonely because you dont wanna risk losing your gear and tend to play super stealthy and paranoid. At least thats how i feel, im not generalizing this. If you got a whole bunch of people with gear together, i am sure the experience is totally different. I dont have many friends that play DayZ tho. Also, as time goes on, i think we will see military loot become more diverse, but less common. I guess im just preparing a bit for the time when assault rifles are going to be super rare, where as now you find one in every long barrack after a restart.

On my private shard characters, i just go for a sawed-off and magnum. Plenty of ammo to be found, easely conceiled, not as threathening as an AK with a drum in hand. And you dont feel so pissed off when you finaly get killed... Altough taking out snipers is a lot more frustrating with a setup like that i admit.

New spawns (new players)

The loot run suggested by OP is oke. Assuming we spawn close to Elektro.

Best tip for new players is:

-get of the coast!! or be prepared for anything.

-pick a server that has persistance off

-get a feel for killing Zs with different weapons (melee)

-learn to feel where the coastline is so you can navigate without maps.

Every loot run suggested on the interwebz has its pros and cons.

But even then it will only feel good to do if you have the basic skills mastered:

-killing Zs should be easy once u master the side-step hit.

-looting should be done quick (use tab not F)

-you need to "feel" your 3d position on the map (not getting disorientated looting houses)

(Feel free to quote and add tips)

Got the above mastered?? Now every loot run becomes easy. :)

As stated by OP should u spawn near cherno/elektro the route suggested does take you along a lot of hightier loot places.

BUT! As stated by others this route will have high traffic on high pop servers.

The amount of players that are possible at these points dont make it worthwhile even at low pop servers

But that's just me, As I wonder into another ambush

There is no such things as a "best loot run".

In this sandbox game, one mans "best" loot is another mans awful loot

This is probably the "best loot run" for someone looking to get geared in full military gear and automatic weapons.

My playstyle mostly revolves around not getting military gear.  In fact a personal goal of mine is to kill full military geared folks on sight due to many many attempts to interact with these types getting an AK in the face.  I do not KOS any other type of player.  The military are usually portrayed as nasty sorts in zombie movies so I also weave this into my justification.

For me, the best loot run entirely depends on where I spawn and also depends on what I want to do with that character.  Am I going to be a "live of the land survivalist" with bow/fishing rod etc?  Am I going to aim for a sniper playstyle?  SKS wielding survivor? Am I gathering supplies for a friend who I am meeting up with?

Yes it's the best run to find top tier loot. Top tier loot is good :)

Timing is everything in this game & many others. Don't let your nerves get to you when in these areas. Get in and out as quick as possible.

As far as military gear weapons spawns. I believe you should have about a 1 in 15 chance of finding them in military zones (1 in every 15 barracks etc.)... Let's not turn this game into crap just because people have a fetish about farming & fishing all day. These guns are around in the real world & in the mod you have even more selections.

Just to add my 2p (or c) to this, the best possible loot run is to...get a naked Vybor spawn. This is a glitch in the game where you spawn with full health at the bridge neat Vybor.

It's not quite as easy as it used to be (as you will freeze pretty fast, and won't, er, have any shoes). But it does take the edge off that first desperate 15 minutes and gives you lots of prospects - NWAF, Vybor base, etc all accessible within minutes.

Was surprised to get this spawn the other day, as thought the glitch had been dealt with.
