Hachiowan 3 Posted January 5, 2015 Hello, Now before people start replying with “Game is not optimized” I want to say I realize this, but I don’t understand why my FPS is This bad. One of my friends with roughly the same setup is getting better FPS and running pretty much all high\very high settings. This friend even claimed to have an average of 50 or more FPS even in cities. He is running a 770 GTX TI. Here is my setup:Win 7 x648 GB of ram (DDR3 1866)ROG Striker GTX 760 4gbAsus Z97 Deluxe MOBOIntel i7 4790 4.0500 GB x 7200 RPM SATA drive In the wilderness I am hitting 45 – 50 FPS and in towns I Can drop down to 15 FPS, it’s a slide show… I have disabled shadows and turned off Antialiasing, but I maybe got an extra 5 FPS. I modeled my settings after this guide - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=216291078. I used the correct Launch Parameters for my setup and then set all in-game settings per the screen shots. I even went into the .cfg files and altered them with different parameters to no avail. When this did not give me the desired FPS (I expected more than 20 in cities) I wanted, I started to disable or turn off things like Shadows, Clouds, and Antialiasing, but this did not improve my FPS by more than 5 give or take. Am I missing something, should I not be messing with Launch Parameters or is my current Vid card just not as capable as running the game like my friends 770 GTX TI which he states is better for shaders? SaveMeJebus 164 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Settings that are set lower than at least medium will often offload to the cpu which is already working super hard with this game. If you can't turn it off completely set it to med or high and see if that affects you any. Most all peoples rig will be cpu bound with this game so pay no attention to you friend about the gpu. I upgraded to SLI 760s a little while ago and noticed a huge fps gain in the wilderness but the same ugliness of 25ish frames in the large cities as the cpu inevitably bottlenecked. If you sit and fiddle with settings you can actually find the point where object count binds the cpu and your gpu load will actually start to drop as you turn up the count ... same thing in arma 3 BUT it has been semi optimized so you can get it to a tolerable level. One can hold out hope for good performance eventually tho, Cherno+ map runs like a champ if you load it up in the arma 3 editor :) **I dont have the fastest cpu on the market (i5-3570k OC'd to 4.6) But there aren't many games that bring my cpu to its knees and this is the main one lol Edited January 5, 2015 by SaveMeJebus
creature 1189 Posted January 5, 2015 First, is your friend running off an SSD? a. Anyone can claim any fps, if you didn't see it, it likely didn't happen. Second, I've always received better performance with most graphics settings on "high" or better in every Bohemia game I play. Reason being is that they're VERY CPU intensive games so, the more work your GPU does, the less the CPU has to deal with. (a 4GB card is begging for high graphics settings btw) Third, you're talking about fps in DayZ. There seems to be no real rhyme or reason for ones fps compared to another. My roomie gets about 10fps more than me in cities with a MUCH lesser PC but I have a smoother play experience and it looks oh-so pretty in comparison to his game. (Both of us having settings maxed out) In closing, you're not doing too bad. I think almost everyone who plays this game can safely say "I can drop down to 15fps in cities". Chasing FPS in DayZ is futile if you ask me. I've learned to just enjoy the view with everything maxxed out while munching on :beans: .
Hachiowan 3 Posted January 5, 2015 Thanks for your responses. I will mess around more with the settings to see what I can come up with. And to answer your question, creature, my friend is running an SSD with DayZ installed on it.
smochi 2 Posted January 7, 2015 I don't understand how you guys get more fps with higher settings. I always get more fps with lowest settings in cities. Turning settings on high/very high and my fps makes a nosedive, especially shadows, cloud settings and object detail. I've tried this on 4 different high end systems and they yield all the same result.
sneakydudes 278 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) I recommend going out and seeing if you can get 16gb instead of 8 you will be happy you did. Hopefully you don't have 2x4gb sticks. Look for matching ram if you can. Otherwise your into a new 16gb kit. The 16gb will be a great performance increase in games. SSD are nice but some aren't seeing a huge difference over the 7200rpm drives. Edited January 7, 2015 by FIRMSneakydude

Windows would whine i had to close programs because i was out of memory. Popped another 8gb and my stutters also went when loading in areas. Everyone has different experience with ssd on dayz. Some people report fps increase but for me, it only helped with the loading times. Edited January 7, 2015 by smochi
Warhoax 63 Posted January 7, 2015 SSD won't affect FPS. Only load times will be shorter.
Hachiowan 3 Posted January 16, 2015 I would like to get an SSD, but I think I will upgrade my ram first. And yes, I have 2x4GB sticks... I may as well just up to 32GB.
smochi 2 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) You could just get another pair of 2 x 4gb stick and have 16gb all togheter. This friend of yours running 50fps in cities is either lieing or runnign this game on very low. I had to oc my 4770k to 4.5ghz to get 50fps minimum in cities with very low. Edited January 16, 2015 by smochi
Axezeroone 56 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) anyone claiming having stable +50fps in cities like electro cherno or other bigger cities is pretty much lying and just trying to brag, unless they play the game from the NASA computer centre or some secret high tech underground base from nsa/cia/etc... and im not even kidding, theres just no way at this current state of the game Edited January 16, 2015 by Axezeroone
sneakydudes 278 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Well I am still working away at getting 200 to 300 fps but this game is loading so much more then other games. Currently I am over 60 FPS and that is rather low for a high end card like the 780TI SC version. Its an 800 dollar video card and chances are sold out. I've done the performance update and that's where I get 60fps. So no this game is not yet optimized yet for graphics. Do your best..... - Had to help post my results in fraps hope that gives you a guide line of how much a load this has.- ill test my city load out for you.
