DayZ Laptop Players Database

Recommended Posts

Dear DayZ Community,

First of all thank you everyone who involve in this game from the players

community to developers. Yes, we have still some disturbing issues when we

spend time on this game but we play with our hope for future and enjoy much

as never had before sometimes.

Everyone who entered DayZ world know that there are some performance

issues. We know that this is a temporary issue as the other issues due to

game is in alpha stage. But we know that the biggest issue for now is that

performance optimization.

Almost everyone play DayZ on a Desktop computer, but there are some DayZ

fans like me who have to play it on a laptop. We laptop players have real

reasons to play it, most of us are mobil workers/students and all of us

would use Desktop if there werent a necessity. So please kindly understand

that we dont need "get a desktop", "you waste your money to a poor laptop",

"laptop noob" liked recommendations.

The purposes of this topic are:

1- To provide information/tip/experience/recommendation to laptop owner

players about getting best performance with best graphics quality balance.

2- To provide information/tip/experience/recommendation to new laptop

buyers about which models/hardware give the best performance with a good

price/performance balance.

How we can collect data:

Every laptop player may kindly fill those data and after we get enough

database we can achieve our goals:

Laptop brand/model:

Cpu model:

Gpu model:

Ram:

HDD/SSD:

Psu (adapter):

Operating System:

Render Resolution:

Detail Settings:

Texture Settings:

Video Render Settings:

Steam launch options:

Dayz config files edits:

Average FPS at wilds:

Average FPS at cities:

At first, let me the first entry to the database:

Laptop brand/model: Asus N550 JV 127H

Cpu model:İntel 4700 HQ

Gpu model:Nvidia GT 750M

Ram: 16 gb 1600 mhz

HDD/SSD: 1 TB 5400 rpm

Psu (adapter): 125 watt

Operating System: win 8.1 SL

Render Resolution: 1920 * 1080

Quality Settings: All low as possible

Textures Settings: Both normal

Video Render Settings: Edge smoothing:FXAA high, all others disabled

Steam launch options: nothing (because nothing benefit me except -winxp,

that crash my game)

Dayz config files edits: GPU_Maxframesahead=1, GPU_Detectedframesahead=1,

scene complexity= 100000, viewdistance=1000,

prefferedobjectviewdistance=1000.

Average FPS at wilds:20-25

Average FPS at cities:10-15

Please do not hesitate any kind of suggestion to this thread and please

kindly give your two minutes to enter this database.

I urgently and especially wonder how those new laptops like Asus G751, MSI

GT72 and MSI GS70 with GTX 970M and GTX 980M gpus give performance on DayZ.

I also wonder if there is a significant performance difference between low-

medium- high- high end laptops. Is it a waste or must to buy a high-end?

Whats the laptops limits for DayZ at the moment? For example upgrading from

Asus N550 JV (specifications above) to a Asus G751 really worth 2000$ ?

I hope many questions will be answered under this topic.

Best regards.

Laptop brand/model: BTO 17CL35 (CLEVO W150HRM mobo)
Cpu model: Intel Core I7-2670QM 2.20Ghz (2.80Ghz boost, 4-Cores, 8 -threads)
Gpu model: Nvidia GT555M 2GB DDR3 (Driver: 9.18.13.4475) & Intel HD Graphics 3000
Ram: 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz (2 Banks)
HDD/SSD: 250GB Samsung EVO 840 SSD (~550Mb/s R/W) & 7200RPM SATA HDD
Psu (adapter): 120 Watt (Calculated myself...)
Operating System: Windows 7 x64 (Dual boot Elementary OS)
Render Resolution: 1280x720
Detail Settings: Lowest Possible
Texture Settings: Highest Possible
Video Render Settings: Everything off
Steam launch options: -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -maxMem=2047 -malloc=system
Dayz config files edits: Scene Complexity 100000
Average FPS at wilds: 45
Average FPS at cities: 25
Additional: Removed Parking of cores, tweaked a bit in Nvidia settings, Dayz is on the SSD.

Reason low FPS: CPU bottleneck. Although the I7-2670QM isn't bad at all, my GPU load won't go higher than 60%. Whilest my CPU is constantly maxed at 25% (It sticks to one core for Dayz.)

Also worth noticing: I run very often with an extra monitor, whilst watching a stream on secondary monitor or watching a movies/series etc. So I know this will bring my fps down.

As I mentioned before, I always appreciate tips and tricks to improve my dayZ experience.

I have the GT72 with 980m and 4710hq, and it runs fantastic on dayz. I run without SMAA as the gpu can't handle it and i get huge fps drop as it also strains the cpu alot. I guess the engine does bad job at multithreaidng. The performance should be similair as the Radeon 290. High end laptop also allows few bin cpu overclocking with intel xtu wich helps to overcome low fps in cities. On my 4710hq I overclock it to 3.5ghz wich is +2 bins. the 4860hq allows +4 bins and 49xx +6/+8?

I'd say its worth it only to spend money on a gaming laptop with 970m and 980m. The midrage 860m and below is worthless to play any game decently that are slightly graphic intensive.

Although my 980m could handle it on very high but some of the settings have a huge impact on the cpu so i rather turn everything off to very low to maximize my fps to 50-60 in cities as its crucial for PVP.

Well to be honest Dayz works perfectly on my laptop and its not even a gaming laptop. Sure I might have downloaded Razer Cortex and it made a little difference. I have a desktop computer and laptop. You really have to sort out the settings. Maybe its because you have a shitty laptop/desktop computer.

Since this doesn't appear to be anything official I'm not exactly going to take the time to be specific with my specs

MSI GT60-ONC

3rd Gen i7 3610 2.3GHz

2x 500GB HDD in Raid 0

GTX670M Nvidia Card

12GB RAM

180W Power Brick

15.4" @1920x1080

I ballpark 30-50 FPS depending on where I am. I don't have too much trouble with DayZ. Most settings are on high. Same with other games. No issues. Newer models of this laptop probably play better. My only complaint is the fact that it's so heavy because of all the crap that's inside. Nice thing about the GTX670 is it's lower TWP compared to other top-end cards. This laptop is never hot. Newer models are probably better in many areas but I doubt any of them run as cool as the models with the GTX670. But they'll also likely get better FPS. Battery life also sucks ass, but no one plays video games on battery mode anyway. Battery life is about enough to watch a short movie, about 2 hours under load. My battery is old and only lasts like 30-40 minutes under load now  :(. I typically play on my desktop now that it's running so I'm not in a rush to replace this laptop. I'm thinking of replacing it around August of 2015 when the back to school specials come out. It's how I got this one. Microsoft was doing one of their "buy a PC, get an Xbox" specials. lol

why not wait till the final release before hardware spectthinggystuffyblorbs....

Because we want statistics about the current version of Dayz.

We'll even be able to compare performance to when it's final release is here, ain't that nice?

Some of these posted in here are doing better then the high end PC gear.  Makes me question the validity.  I say this cause I am in the market for a laptop to game Dayz on since I am moving half way across the country with new job.

Well, factual accuracy aside, the elitists with expensive gaming rigs love to talk trash on everyone else using inferior hardware because they somehow feel better about themselves and the money they've spent by doing so. The fact of the matter is that the game is incredibly unoptimized at this point and even good (read: expensive) hardware will not run it particularly well. I play on a Macbook just fine and take gorgeous screenshots, but I get told all the time that I shouldn't even be capable of playing on it. Go figure.

Because they may have all fresh drivers, clean Windows (without 2-3 antiviruses, cleaned up system drive and they don't render video on background), a better SSD or even a better provider ))

Wait for the new renderer of dayz before buying a new laptop. (Easier said that done probably ;) )

Right now the CPU is very important for Dayz, the GPU is too, ofcourse, but the CPU is often the bottleneck.

I am hoping this will turn around when the new renderer comes out, thus waiting could be worth the while.

I agree with you.

Most of these specs above run on i7 mobile cpu's that perform similar to i5 desktop. I own i7 4770k oc to 4.6ghz and the difference is just 5fps-10fps. Though higher settings also strain the cpu alot. very high settings with not fully used gpu gives me 25 40 fps in cities.

A non gamin laptop will still play this game on low settings. but high/very high ,I doubt it. my 3610qm spare laptop with 630m runs this game on 800x600 with lower settings runs like dog shit.

Hi, i am needing little help deciding what to do. I just got a new job working on railroad construction, so my new job will have lot of traveling. Job is starting on march and I am looking for gaming laptop for price about 1300€. I have been thinking asus g750jm, but I don't know if I should wait for new models or get that asus while its on sale.

What do you think?

Try to find a laptop with 970m. P650se cost €1192 here without HDD and memory, I think 1k/1.2k for 860m is a waste of money. You could also wait abit for a laptop with 965m. It has been announced few days ago. Really, save a little bit for a laptop with 970m. You will be glad you did.

Laptop brand/model: ACER Aspire V3-571G
Cpu model: Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.3 GHz with TurboCache up to 3.3GHz
Gpu model: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M with 2 GB Dedicated VRAM
Ram: 8 GB DDR3 Memory
HDD/SSD: 1TB HDD
Psu (adapter): No Idea :P
Operating System: Windows 7 x64
Render Resolution: 1280x720
Detail Settings: Lowest, Shadows are Off
Texture Settings: Low
Video Render Settings: Low or Disabled
Steam launch options: -nosplash -noLogs -cpucount=4 -exthreads=7
Dayz config file edits: Funnily, same as OP. GPU_Maxframesahead=1, GPU_Detectedframesahead=1, scene complexity= 100000, viewdistance=1000, prefferedobjectviewdistance=1000.
Average FPS in the wilds: 20-30
Average FPS at cities: 10-15

Suffice to say, it runs like battered shit (I am guessing CPU is the culprit here). In firefights I usually have to rely on my teammates for the most part.

But I have high hopes for optimizations in the beta or polishing stage.

I have the same laptop. But i have 630m wich is abit slower. It's not the cpu but the gpu is just too slow even to run it on minimu. This game runs fantastic on 980m here on 3.5ghz. 200mhz slower then yours.

so i think optimization will not help for you because you are bottlenecked by the gpu.
