Swords - how good are they?

Recommended Posts

I was hoping to locate my first sword and give it a shot but with the DDOS I'm left wondering. Did anyone here try them on experimental, and if so were they better/same as a fire ax? And did I read right that they spawn at castle locations?

This was all I could find online about them, this simple video which looks early. I'm not sure why he kept falling over, it looks like it may have been bugged when swinging at one point. Pretty funny.

Can't wait to ambush someone and start spouting Archer lines. "I am the bone of my sword..."

Swords took two hits on all types of zombies to kill, and provided you hit them the first time, you could swing with a follow up quickly.

If you miss with the sword, it takes relatively long to bring it back and swing again. But if you hit a zombie, it has a really low time-to-kill.

It's certainly a badass weapon, and it's much longer than any of the other bladed weapons. However, as mentioned above, it has pretty slow recovery from misses. Axes are probably still better, but I haven't really had any time to play with the sword (only got to try it after a friend lent me his.)

Personally I'll take a sword any day. At least half of the infected I killed were killed with one hit, as it's pretty easy to aim with the sword and bring a descending chop over their heads, making them fall in one hit.

It takes more space than the splitting axe or fire axe, so I'll keep it on my back and keep a splitting axe in my backpack anyway. B)
