Did I make the right weapon choice?

Recommended Posts

I finally took the advice of others, got geared up in a city, then buggered off up north/west. While doing so I came across a helicopter crash site, after scoping the area out it looked safe so I went over, popped a few zombies and had a look at the treasures around it.

I had a choice of primary weapons.

FN FAL with 1 mag.

Bizon PP-19 SD with 3 mags

AKM with 6 mags

I didn't know what to do... I hear people saying the FN FAL is overrated, and I didn't know how far I could go with a single mag of it, and the AKM isn't that rare but did have 6 mags...

I ended up choosing the Bizon PP-19 SD, with 3 mags = 192 bullets.

Tried it out on a few zombies, thing is silent as anything, and I have a choice between semi and auto which is nice.

In your opinion, did I make the right choice?, I'm fairly happy with the Bizon, and I plan on not really wasting anymore ammo on zombies unless I desperately need to, I'll keep it so if I come across other survivors, I have something I can throw into full auto and defend myself with, lets me be very stealthy too. Even though it may not be that powerful.

This is the first time I have really come across high tier weapons.

Suppressed weapons are the best option in any circumstance. If you ever need it on Fully Auto you'll probably be dead anyhow. Stealth is your ally in this game, not firepower. I'll take a suppressed pistol over my Lee Enfield if i can find one

for clearing zombies, yes.

it kills them with a few shots and can barely be heard by players.

If you try killing players with it you might have to use the whole mag to land a kill though

Bizon lacks accuracy and power but its silence is a huge factor in choice, especially for zombie slaying. I would have chose the FN FAL to use as primary and squeezed the bizon into my backpack for later use :)

I hate having choices, it's like when you have got a M4A3 CCO, then somehow you find a DMR sniper rifle and already have a full backpack, of course you take the sniper but your gonna be losing a hell of a gun in its place.

Having ability to carry two primary weapons, without needing to store them in backpack, maybe sacrificing your sidearm... that would be cool.

worse is having a M4A3 CCO and a uzi in your pack. Fully geared. when the admin decides to basically slay everyone in the server. good times.

Hmmm, I did have an ALICE pack, probably could have made room for the FN FAL. Ah well. The Bizon is nice, I was replacing a Double-Barrel Shotgun, so even the AKM would have been a huge improvement.

Still got a Makarov though, but I have 7 mags for it and I doubt I will ever run out of ammo since it is so plentiful. That's what I tend to use to take out zombies, just headshot them all. If I can find any other sidearm though with a couple of mags I'll probably take it.

So at the moment I don't have much in the way of player-stopping power. Zombies are screwed though if I ever mess up and alert them.

I'm horrible at reading the map too, so I have no idea where I am, the only places I can point out are Berezino, Elektro and Cherno, which aren't of much concern for me now.

Although, not to far from where I am now, I seen a massive chimney which looked like it was almost going into the clouds and had lots of steam pouring out of it. Or it seemed so. I'm in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere now before I exited to come here.

Or having spent 3 days gearing up around NW only to spawn in after a nice long relaxing sleep and finding out you are about 40m in the air and falling fast -.-

I've got say, the "new toy" choice is always my favorite. But after that, it's that which matches my play style.

I have to fight hard to resist the compulsion to not feel like an idiot and drop my lucky M1014 shotgun for a rare sniper weapon or such. In the end though, because I hunt zombies and run from people, and I'm a panic-stricken, lousy shot, I end up happier with the M1014.

I hit a copter with the reverse: The FN FAL (3 clips) was awesome, but ammo rarity and NOISE made it easy to drop...after a great town-aggroing, corpse-stacking spree! The Bizon (1 clip) went into my pack...food is now a little scarce. All the AKs I've used feel like the milqetoast of the gun world. Effective, but boring.
