Video game addict. Played all my life, never got better. Still happy.
  1. I'm not your average DayZ player. I'm bad at getting gear, or just far less lucky than others here. Probably the former. I am excited when I open a can before I starve--this is mostly due to by my intense inability to remain focused. I can't shoot straight under pressure, or even threaten people. I have little desire to kill players...or work with them. I kind of think of them as very smart, extra scary zombies. I am killed more often by stairs than players. Every time I go to NW airfield, I am shot dead. With that, I love where this game is at. It's a huge blast currently. A little bit boring is actually great de-motivator. As it gains more features, more stability, and more predictability, it will be overwhelmed with more people out to kill or be killed, looking to build forts, or burn them down. I'm happy for them and I'm sure they support the game more than me. But, I'll have less interest.
  2. As a non-bandit, I run, run, run away constantly. I run all the way up north, west, back across to the northeast. I run from distant town to distant town. I run away from the cities and any non-zombie confrontation. Hell, I run from zombies too, as I'm an unpracticed, crappy shot. I like to run. I have been shot, repeatedly by people who sit/lie atop hills, for long periods of time, doing nothing but waiting for me to come running along. Makes sense we would get slightly better at our chosen lifestyle.

    Why I uninstalled DayZ.

Wait, Arma is still in alpha? That would explain a lot.
  4. I will grant you that that far *might* be an unintended bug, but.... You saw him and determined he was not an uninfected, just fine, so why can he not? Your detection bar was nearly maxed out. You were in full daylight, cutting an excellent silhouette against the sky from the city. You were moving *exactly* the way uninfected move, and nothing like the way infected move, with a rifle in your hands and a player doing something funny near you. I think it would be very cool, if, just like in the movies & tv & books, going anywhere near a city or town would mean one of two things: Hordes of zombies spotted, cornered & killed you or you were able to display some really amazing skills to survive and scavenge. This would be the most appropriate version in my perfect Zombie/Infected world. A city should equal death to all of us, but the really good or the really well-supported. I don't like the AI where the Z's are a comfortable distraction that can only kill me when I stack the odds in their favor or they surprise me by teleporting through a wall. edit: My very brief experience with Arma's actual game's AI was much like this Infected. It was hard and scary good. They often saw me first. Smart, and certainly NOT catering to/comforting the average, lowest common denominator of player.

    Characters not saving across servers?

That would be so awesome if it were the case for all servers!
  6. You use faggot as a derrogatory term. You deserve to be shot, every time, until you learn some respect for non-breeders.

Am I a bully or was this justice?

Were you a bully for singly taking on and putting down three murderous psychos? Not by any strectch. The unknown fourth guy that might have helped you? Firing at him was possibly a moment of adrenaline-filled bad-decision making. Nice karma that you missed him. Justice for them? Sure, in this live & die by the gun world, they got it. Yours will likely come later. On a side note: Waste of bullets for no reward? Absurd to the extreme. Calmly saving bullets to let murderers go is potentially a far worse act with more negative psychological baggage than the frenzied murder by a group of scavengers whena stranger runs into their midst.

    Coop? Why the hell coop?

Been playing for weeks, all without team mates. It's been fine & exciting. I certainly DO NOT die constantly to other players. Making it so hard that I could not play alone would force me to accept that this game is not for me, but only for the elite players and guilds. I know I would stop. I suspect many others would too. Another problem: I'm not very good. If I were to accept playing with others, they (or I) would constantly draw attention to my lack of skill. As a solo player, I can empty a whole clip killing one zombie, or run away from other players and not feel like I brought the group down. You know where KOS is a constant problem? The forums.

    We don't need patches, Rocket.

I'm new to Alpha/Beta testing. I never considered the issue this way. It makes great sense, albeit a little sadly disillusioning to those who's highest priority is to excel at this mod.

    Only Complaint

So, what you are saying is: if you die, respawn, then die again, your initial corpse cannot be looted? Good to know. Feels like an exploit, but I guess it does prevent people from dying near the coast and then repeatedly re-spawning until they are close to their own corpse.

    Legit silenced sniper rifles?

Sending detailed reports with information might help. There is illegal stuff and legal stuff brought in illegally, (found two crates last night: one filled with every military type weapon & ammo, and the other with medical stuff & toolkit items. Crikey, so tempting. I don't know how to help reduce it's proliferation and game destroying potential.
  12. You're certain it was the same guy? I find it hard to tell my friends apart, except for their guns. One thing that has helped my life expectancy, (and this works on server hoppers and non-exploiters, alike) is displacing. Never "wait & wait" after you have fired on someone. The guy stalking you, or server hopping, will have it too easy.

    Hatchet is overpowered but necessary

I'm surprised you can stand still, then hit the Z's with the hatchet as soon as they see you. I usually get detected far sooner. And then comes the perpendicular running and all that. Morphine is a little too scarce for me to allow that many hits from Z's. I play solo, and I simply am not interested in that many trips to the hospital/crashed choppers. I do like having it in my tool belt for when I run out of ammo.

    DayZ Has Some Problems

One player's boring is another player's pleasant evening away from frenzied, quest-oriented gaming. Call me whatever you want, but I was enjoying the image of the pre-dusk moon tonight, as I ran away from a working Huey, up by Pobeda Dam. I would have investigated further, but as I was sneaking up, someone essentially coughed in direct voice, effectively scaring me the hell out of there.

Life expectancy now 47 minutes? What's up?

Yes, not starting with a loaded weapon helps, but for me, zombies losing track of me has been huge. It has affected my game play style enormously. Aggroing even one zombie in a town used to essentially be a much-feared death sentence for me. Now, I can just run around, and, when ready, run to a two-entrance building, rinse, repeat. That, and the basic ammo re-combining exploit. edit: Actually, I change my mind. I bet they just changed the way they calculate it and got a different number.
