Recommended Posts

I got my pc parts and I'm wondering which game should I get? Arma 2/Arma 3/DayZ?

I will get all 3 eventually but I need a choice for my first buy.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY LIKE :

"Both"

Or

"It's your choice"

Or

"All"

Or

"Any of them"

That not what I want to see lol

Really any of them, it's your choice. Of course, I'd say get all of them. Both ArmA and DayZ are great games.

Clearly stated I didn't want that as a answer above. Glad to see you were abandoned by your parents though. Edited by xImFriendly

Or, you know, you could put your big boy britches on, and not make a decently-expensive purchase based on the word of a small number of Internet strangers.

I seriously do not understand the purpose of this poll. Do you want input on each game? Opinions?

And if you are going to get all three EVENTUALLY, why waste time asking us which one to buy first? I could see if you were only buying one, but all three?

Arma II's a great game (Better than A3 and SA IMO.. 700 hours and still fun) but i'de say it's only got about 1-2 years of good life left, as by that point SA (Hopefully) will actaully be something to enjoy spending days playing. There's a few milion mods for it aswell, so i'de go with that (Combined ops) but i'm a bit biased. Arma 3 lacks content IMO and standalone really gets old after you've explored everywhere (Which i haven't yet...)

So, to the point, i'de go with Arma II, as you get a very good base game, and then basically several dozen new games with mods like DayZ, Wasteland, Epoch, Origins, ACE, and Island Life.

You're on a DayZ forum, so I hope you get more SA % then the others, because basically you're comparing military simulators to a survival game.

I played more ArmA2 single player then multiplayer, and there's no single player in the SA.

I still play the DayZ mod from time to time and I still like it, but I'm really not into that whole Epoch/Overpoch with all their scripts, base building and all that, but I still play good old Namalsk whenever I feel like it.

You should have added "DayZ mod" in your poll as both ArmA 2 and 3 have different versions of the mods. I absolutely loved Breaking Point for ArmA2 on Chernarus with the night fog and all that. That was truly an amazing experience. I tried BP for ArmA3 and can't stand it. It's a personal opinion. It's very well made, I just don't like it.

Anyway, in terms of video games, both ArmA 2 and 3 and DayZ Stand Alone are too different to compare really.

What games should you buy? What games do you want to play?

Go for Arma III. Don't get Dayz SA, it's a very bad game and it will only get worse.

it gives you access to the breaking point mod..

Wow... Breaking Point. See above reaction.

In all seriousness it would depend on what you want it for.

If you want a survival game with zombies or other antagonists and that is it I would probably get DayZ SA.

If you want the ability to run something like that, but do a bunch of other things I would get Arma III because you can do Battle Royal, scenarios, Epoch(Sandbox Survival), organized MilSim, Wasteland and more. Breaking Point is an unfortunately side effect but yes you can run that to if you ever decided you wanted something even BUGGIER than SA.

If you want survival, but are patient enough to wait for more content and functions in being implemented, you should really consider SA. It still has a long road to go.

Arma 2 by now is only good for the mod in my opinion, but others might correct me. The graphics are outdated, the movement feels slow. The mod variants are good, but not the best. One has to be fair, it is an outdated engine.

Arma 3 is a good combat simulation, but not more. If you like combat, you should consider this one, although the maps are barren. Altis life is a fresh attempt, but not really a killer argument. Breaking point seems to be a project born of frustration over SA. The mod for Arma 2 is better, except for graphics.

I own all three and they all have fun aspects. Sometimes there is a discount for Arma 2 and 3. Try to grab them when they are reduced in price.

I say Arma 2 complete collection. Its packed full of content, the editor can let you create any scenario you can dream up from races to murder mysteries to 800unit battles for cherno with tanks planes helis ect.

Of course theres the brilliant Dayz mod but there are countless others. The Nimitz carrier is one of my faves....nothing like being catapult launched in an f14 tomcat, while going to hunt down some fully armed frigates (another mod).

Arma3 is a brilliant game, and there is a mod called AiA (all in arma) that brings all A2 content (bar a few things) to A3. But the ported maps don't run too well IMO. Modders are hard at work bringing there mods forwards aswell, that Nimitz I mentioned has already been ported and improved on for A3. I don't like the way they are putting DLC into the game that you cant actually use until you pay. Much preferred the low texture way of doing it from A2.

All in all id say arma 2. Most well rounded and content packed one out there. Like the devs say, only grab the SA really if you are interested in watching it grow/supporting the project. Theres a long way to go till its a polished release worthy game :)

That kind of behaviour is unnecessary and inappropriate. Read the rules and guidelines before posting next time.
