Windows 8 and Dayz

Guys i have a problem, i use Windows 8 OS and after last DayZ update i need to accept EULA to play on servers with BattleEye protection. Problem is,that my OS cant understand how to open this file,i tryed to use cmd,but the result is same,i accept EULA,and after it it says "How you want to open this file?" Help me please..

I am using Windows 8.1 and did not have any problems yet. This helped a friend of me (who was not using Windows 8 though). In general when using Windows Notepad++ comes handy when opening files as the default Windows text editors are pretty bad.

If you start DayZ after the update, the installation process of BE starts. You should see a popup, where you can accept the EULA. That is all. You do not need to open any file.

thats exactly what it sounds like Chain...OP, are there any other programs that give you the same "what program do you want to use to open this file" when you try to get them to run? this is usually caused by a few different variations of malware, and was quite common about a year/14 months ago, at least around here. 

 

here (www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/fixexec/) is an .exe fix, just merge it into the registry (right click file and then left click merge, do it for all reg files in the fix folder) and see if the program opens, no need to restart after the merge. i downloaded and ran it against my machine before posting the link so you shouldnt have any issues, although of course, this advice is "use at your your own risk"

 

if the BE file is the only program that gives you issues, i would still try the exe fix above, as it wont hurt anything---like i said, i just merged them all into the reg on this machine and its still rolling issue free.

Well, that's good. Most people say: "I heard it is shit!" If you ask them, if they tried it, they say no. Alway have your own opinion about things. The same with Vista. It was sluggish on old PCs, but still secure. What's most disturbing about Windows 8 is the Metro UI, which is mostly meant for tablet. And on tablets Windows 8 is the better OS in my opinion

I don't think that his file associations are messed up, because the EULA has to be accepted in the BE installation process. There is no other program used to open the EULA. But who knows.

It just doesnt seem like an OS for a computer. Feels like it wasn't meant for what it is used for.
