KOS ing

Recommended Posts

Maybe some different systems can be added in to reduce KOS-ing, such as a mental health system, the more people you kill, the lower your mental health is (this will wear off after a while) or a ban system e.g you are killed and you are banned from joining any servers for say, 12 hours? This'll make people more wary of shooting at people.

The mental health thing is a possibility, although I don't exactly support it. I 100% do not support the ban for 12 hours thing though. KOSing is a perfectly valid play style. I see no reason to punish people for it.

A high rate and model of damage for items hit by bullets and the possibility to ruin weapons by hitting them when firing at players would be nice, hopefully the new zombie AIs, numbers and the stealth system will encourage less KoS and more player-player as well as player-zombie stealth

I don't think the problem is that there aren't enough consequences for killing everybody on sight, there's a lack of advantage in NOT doing it.

Right now, survival is so easy and zombies are such a non-threat that killing other players is only advantageous to you. It's the fastest way to gear up (except duping/server hopping). Right now, there's  just not enough of a reason to make contact with people and talk with them or communicate.

The thing people don't seem to realise is that the solution to KOS should not be written into the game. It should be written by the players themselves.

If you don't like it. Form an anti-KOS alliance with people, go around servers and protect people from KOS'ers. Capture them. Do whatever.

You could go in with enough people and secure a town to make a safe zone. All these things are possible if you want them. People should stop looking to the devs to put the changes into the game itself, make the changes as a player.

if anything, in a purely post apocalyptic context, the act of totally removing potential threats might in fact demonstrate an entirely sane outlook from a perspective of survival at any cost, and this is a game about survival.

On the other hand the needy quest to befriend strangers with guns might be viewed as a sign of certain mental instability and, as Einstein said ''doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results'' is the very definition of insanity. killers are always repeating the SAME behaviour (killing players) while expecting the SAME results (free loot and extended lifetime) whereas 'friendly' players are forever repeating the SAME behaviour (exposing themselves to danger) and expecting DIFFERENT results (maybe this one won't kill me) and are clearly displaying the signs of being driven mad by loneliness.

So if any player group should be marked by mental ill health it certainly shouldn't be the sane and clinical killers, the winners of the greatest game on earth, survival of the fittest, no, the serial victims of KoS, it is they are truly mentally defective.

Private shards are too friendly, in my opinion. What would be fun is a faction mechanic with FF:Off (or x for crosshair when hovering over faction members) option for private shards. It would, hopefully, results in more team battles and less random KoS.

Nothing beats that moment when Johnny "Treehugger" Crafter finally realises he can't talk his way out of his fate, no amount of lentils will buy back his life.  That's it - he's going to die and there's nothing left to do but piss his hand-woven pants and prepare for the beach.

Why would you want to take that away from us?
