Yelling In DayZ

Recommended Posts

Ever need help from another survivor in DayZ?

Ever want to lure a friendly victim?

Well this is how!

Ok, your running through the woods, and a zombie sneaks up behind you and breaks your knee cap, ouch right? but  after you kill that zombie, what now?? Your stuck in the middle of the woods and you cant walk, oh that's right! ill just scream for help.. HHHEE- oh wait.. I cant, because if you over 20 feet from me, you cant hear me..

If yelling was implementing, you could...

You just found a gun and you feel powerful, you snuck up in an abandoned school, stuck your head out of a window and yelled, HELPP SOMEONE HELP, a man in the tree line screams back "STAY THERE!!' your heart is pounding.. you get into position in a vantage point by the entrance, he comes in, and BOOM. there's a corpse, with a bunch of food, ammo, and supplies.

How it would work:

I play with a controller with a 3rd party program called Xpadder. (http://xpadder.com/) so I don't know what you press on the keyboard for direct communication, but you'd have to "double tap a button" and the direct communication sign will be bigger, (so you know you player is yelling whatever you say) this would be one of the most effective, game changing things you could add in DayZ *cough *cough (Dev. Team).

Not much more I have to say about this topic.. if you do please comment below...

And hey.. You!!! FORUM TEAM.. yeah I'm talking to you... Forward or send this topic to someone who can let the dev. team know about this... Helloo? hear what I'm sayin?

Thanks for reading! Cheers Mates! Stay Warm and Don't Lose Your Beans!  ;)  :beans:

How about the louder you speak the further away people can here you. I think it would be funny to make people wake up their neighbors for a videogame

that would be good in a few ways, but videos are supposed to take you away from the real world, and parents wouldn't approve of your idea. roommates, neighbors, and dogs wouldn't either

I dont see why not. Sounds like something that would make gameplay more interesting... I always wanted more screams from players in pain that can be heard a considerable realistic distance away...

Hearing a blood curdling scream in the middle of the night in the distant hills would be a harrowing experience for the most seasoned survival veterans

Not to mention it would be a bitch to code, i believe :)

It would be much easier to give us 3 different direct chats.

One for whispers, one for normal (what we have now) and one for shouting. The ranges could be 5m, 20m and perhaps 50-100m :)

Agree'd, this would be perfect, and you could switch the same way you switch between comm settings in arma.

My thought exactly.

I think it would be alot easier to accomplish, and then simply add some audio filters, to adjust certain volume levels :) Could make for some interesting encounters in the bigger cities lol.

And then you could also add text to this, so people could interact from longer distance, even without a mic.

Encourage talking and yelling, encourage any kind of improved communication between players, ingame :)

It would be scary all right, but only because they'd be wondering why the heck someone was literally screaming while playing a video game.

Hahaa no man.. I mean the character model has its own scream kinda like the female character did in the mod... :D not the actual player screaming through the mic, that wouldnt really work in the screaming sense but what the op suggests sounds like an OK idea

I would like it if direct was a bit further, because 90% of the time you need shouting range anyway.

But small distance, say less than 3-4 metres could be always picking up headset sounds, that way people can't magically communicate next to you through third party and it isn't a complete privacy breach, you actually have to be close, and you can always turn mic off.
