Life of an Item

Recommended Posts

Im not really sure i understand the question :) Might have to elaborate abit mate.

But back in the mod, Mountain Dew and the Lee Enfield rifle, was some of the most iconic items.

Mountain Dew was said to be cursed, and most people seemed to die, shortly after they picked it up :)

The Lee Enfield rifle was known as "the dinner bell" because it didnt matter when you fired it, you would get a swarm of zombies. Sometimes even in the middle of a fucking field lol.

As far as SA goes, i think its still to soon for any of this to arise :)

Although the Mosin has already become somewhat of an icon, ingame hehe.

I think he's refering to an individual item changing hands- Dude finds mosin, loves it, takes care of it... bandit kills him, bandit loves it, takes care of it, bandit hunter kills him...

If thats the case, im afraid nobody can answer what item has survived the longest :)

But people might have stories to share about guns changing hands hehe.

Well, for guns/rifles changing hands, that is difficult to trace. If they had ids and a creation date, what I doubt, the devs could check the database. But why should they? I had a Mosin once, which I carried from around march until the great wipe, but there should have been people out there, who carried their weapon longer.

I to doubt they track individual items like this, but on the other hand, tracking items is the foundation of the global loot economy :)

So who knows tbh, perhaps they track all items, perhaps they only track certain items.

That is long. Although I am allergic to kiwis, I eat them immediately. "My mouth tastes funny"

I think it would take specific item ID's- not just by type, but for each one. I'm sure they can tell how many of something exist, but not a spcific one. That would take a lot more database work, although it would cut down on hacks if it was reviewed.

So obviosly you cant tell really how long something existed for. How about the most interesting story you think an item of yours went through?

Probably most of the considered "top tier" guns rarely end up de-spawning.

What do you think is the longest any one item has ever existed in dayz for? What is the story of that item?

From day 1 until full wipe.

The rest is silly to discuss.
