Will There Ever be "Epoch" for Standalone?

Before I begin, let me just say, I have never played the DayZ Mod, or any mods based off the mod, like Epoch, OverWatch, and OverPoch. However, I have done a LOT of reading on Epoch, and it sounds like fun, w/ the trading, money, etc.

 

I've heard the StandAlone is already based off of Epoch's system (which is totally wrong, whoever told me that, I mean, there's no money in StandAlone!).

 

I wonder if there'll ever be something for StandAlone like Epoch, b/c it sounds like fun, and I've never played it.

 

But also have Normal servers, and Epoch.

 

Ex:

 

DAYZNOTEPOCHSERVER.... Join

 

DAYZEPOCHSERVER....Join

DayZ Standalone is not at all based off of Epoch, which was one of many of the mod's 'mods'. (though some features of Epoch may have indirectly inspired it)

 

Modding is not currently supported on the DayZ Standalone, and is not expected to be for some time (likely not until release 1.0) However, if the creators so choose, it's very possible that they'll make a variation of Epoch for the Standalone.

 

Epoch is, however, being made into a standalone mod for ArmA 3, vastly improved over ArmA 2's variation (in my opinion).

 

I'd expect that even if Epoch itself is never recreated on the Standalone (though the creators would be fools not to take advantage, DayZ Standalone having been built precisely for this type of gameplay), there will undoubtedly be many mods utilizing similar features. I honestly doubt you'll be let down.

I imagine that trading and safe zones and all that nonsense will be added in mods. It'll be interesting to see what the community comes up with.

 

Also, "Dayz Epoch server" and "DayZ not Epoch server"? That's such a strange way of putting it. How about "DayZ" and "DayZ Epoch"? ;D

I will just say, all mods are so much more fun than SA, even though they are buggy. Although they are not true survival games but just arma with zombies. I would definetly recommend trying the mods. Especially Panthera map.

Isn't DayZ already the Epoch mod combined? You guys are waiting so badly for modding to come that you don't even realize that most of the features or ideas that were in these mods will probably be added to the actual DayZ.

Yes I would like epoch to stay FAR AWAY from standalone please :) ... Standalone is a completely different idea than epoch ...

It's like this , dayz standalone is what would really happen if only a few thousand people could survive a Zombie virus , the natural dangers of the world would become even more dangerous , people wouldn't trust each other although there are still groups working together, there is NO AI besides zombies and animals, this is the realistic view of the end of days and more so enjoyable for a video game (in my opinion) ... but Epoch , epoch is more like the retarded cousin of the realistic apocalypse : everything went to shit yet everyone is still acting as though nothing happened with invincible safe zones accommodating large groups of clans playing the trader merchant role who's true intention is to find every damn vehicle on the map and sell it at a high price to the Ai merchants so no one new to the game can find one lol ...

Epoch , having played the original and the new arma 3 epoch , is no where near the experience dayz sa is at ... Even the KOS is worse seeing as you can't tell people to raise their hands and you can't even restrain people as far as I know , and Believe it or not those two things really help eliminate KOS for the people who are merciful and end up getting the jump on another ..

Overall I can't wait for standalone to have vehicles and work out the kinks of the loot respawning and zombies , because that's all this game needs to be the best seeing as like many have said already , the mods like epoch and breaking point are incredibly Buggy (with less intention to be fixed seeing as they are based off of an engine they can't screw with and fix , unlike dayz standalone) and very clunky in terms of controls (inventory controls too military based you can't even choose your outfit head to toe you have to find premade ones) and on top of that your character feels too swift in epoch , it's like you aren't carrying any weight and your guy is Rambo lol , just lots of little things add up to an unrealistic and non - immersive anti- survival setting that at the end of the day , is ONLY fun if you have Friends playing with you and have the off chance of finding one of the 65 vehicles on the map that's roughly 4 times bigger than chernarus !

This may be a better question to ask on the Epoch Forum than the Standalone Forum.

 

Epoch and Standalone are in no way connected at all. Epoch was merely using the DayZ Mod as a base for its own version of it - but since the team has moved on to developing for ARMA 3.

 

But as I said - these questions are to be asked on the Epoch-Forum, not here. We wouldn't know what their intentions are.
