DayZ Standalone, Or Arma 3: DayZ mod?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

     1)   Ive been watching lots of DayZ videos and Streams, and I just realized there are two separate games.. I think. From what ive gathered, theres an Arma Mod and Standalone Version? So Which one should I get? Which one do you guys Prefer?

     2) I have a Dell Inspirion 660 Desktop, with an i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz, with 6 gb of Ram. Which version of DayZ would I run better, if one does run better than the other. Can I even run it at descent FPS on either at all?

Any answers to my post would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

As a zombie survival game, I think DayZ will be far more superior to Arma 3's DayZ mod in the long run. DayZ is entirely meant to be built up to be a zombie apocalypse game anyways.. Arma 3 is still a military simulator. Arma 3's DayZ Mod is pretty much a step up to Arma 2's DayZ Mod.

So DayZ standalone. Do you think ill be able to run it?

That sounds really similar to my laptop, same exact specs and brand except my i3 is only a 1.8Ghz. I can run standalone at about 40-50 fps on medium settings. I know SA optimization is shit right now, so it will probably get even better. Arma 3 is a lot harder to run, and also considering that the mods for arma 3 are from random modders, are not nearly as optimized and feature complete. The actual "DayZ mod" was for Arma 2. Arma 3 versions are just ports and recreated versions made by random kids. I personally suggest standalone, it will be most optimized, most features, and overall better in general.
