DayZ Standalone, Or Arma 3: DayZ mod?

Hey everyone,

 

     1)   Ive been watching lots of DayZ videos and Streams, and I just realized there are two separate games.. I think. From what ive gathered, theres an Arma Mod and Standalone Version? So Which one should I get? Which one do you guys Prefer?

 

     2) I have a Dell Inspirion 660 Desktop, with an i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz, with 6 gb of Ram. Which version of DayZ would I run better, if one does run better than the other. Can I even run it at descent FPS on either at all?

 

     Any answers to my post would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

As a zombie survival game, I think DayZ will be far more superior to Arma 3's DayZ mod in the long run. DayZ is entirely meant to be built up to be a zombie apocalypse game anyways.. Arma 3 is still a military simulator. Arma 3's DayZ Mod is pretty much a step up to Arma 2's DayZ Mod.

That sounds really similar to my laptop, same exact specs and brand except my i3 is only a 1.8Ghz. I can run standalone at about 40-50 fps on medium settings. I know SA optimization is shit right now, so it will probably get even better. Arma 3 is a lot harder to run, and also considering that the mods for arma 3 are from random modders, are not nearly as optimized and feature complete. The actual "DayZ mod" was for Arma 2. Arma 3 versions are just ports and recreated versions made by random kids. I personally suggest standalone, it will be most optimized, most features, and overall better in general.
