Horrible FPS in cities after recent patches

Recommended Posts

I started playing DayZ after a long time (It was just updated to 0.47 when I stopped playing) yesterday, and FPS in cities had greatly decreased. It was pretty low before as well, but still playable. Now it's nearly unplayable. Maybe around 10-15 when it used to be maybe 20-25. Why is this?

2 patches is a long time? :P

I have not noticed a decrease in FPS anywhere.

It's a possibility CS:GO has made me a picky piece of shit...

IS it anywhere specific like the high rise areas around Cherno? Or is it just any city you enter?

whats your PC specs?

You need like a Über Intel hexacore processor to get better than 30 Fps in cities on high.

Well I didn't play much, and I was in the northernmost city with the big high building :D FPS was very low

Specs are something like:

Graphics card: AMD radeon HD7770

8gb ram

Processor: AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor 3.3 GHz

others I can't remember

::: :D

Not sure you need an ubber intel  chip to do that, a i7 4790k does me quite well with my worst areas being novo and patches of the apartments i still get low 50 fps..

As for the OP strange my performance has stayed roughly the same through the last couple patches , is it your heading into the newer city of novo which is a real fps killer..

AMD chips are not a real favorite of the engine DayZ uses. The engine DayZ uses favors Intel/Nvidia products.

Yeah it was Novo and that is a real frame killer... how do you feel about overclocking?? its just the game in current state is really only using 1 of the 6 cores you have so 3.3 isnt world crushing id say you should be able to get 4ghz out of it easily enough which would up your fps a bitt maybe enough to be playable( or wait till optimization starts as they are porting to ps4 i am expecting there going to have to dig in and really work on the multithreading to take advantage of the ps4's many weaker amd cores.

Yeah, the engine seems like the intel/nvidia more and it really just seems to be luck of the draw. Some people run it great on a mid end PC others with maybe just a different motherboard have issues. It's just not even close to being optimized yet.

Try Exp, we got even worse in FPS. maybe because of spawn/re-spawning loot mechanic is completely working fine.

That counts as an ubber intel chip. The amd ones people have cost half that much with half as much processing power.

As for the FPS it will get better and worse as they replace the rendered. Right now I have noticed a distinct drop on the experimental servers. In the end it should be drastically better then it ever has been, but thats a long winding road!

I confirm this. FPS drops significantly in towns. The game often crashes.

The new Rendering engine will have zero effect on FPS drops in cities as this is due to the CPU being loaded up with all the objects and items it has to track.

They are also optimizing this part of the game engine.

It's a known fact DayZ works like piece of shit with AMD products. When I first started playing DayZ, my FPS was maybe like 5, but thankfully there was these tutorials how to edit those specific files so FPS increased drastically.

I've run intel/nividia for years now, wouldn't go back to amd/ati.

alpha = being able to play the game not a priority

That would be a good argument if you haven't took money for your alpha from over 2 million people. In that case you might want be little more considerate of ability to play.

I thought the game was threaded for only two cores atm?

I have experienced fps drops since patch as well. You aren't the only one. We are not the only ones. It will pan out. Go live int he forest for a few weeks. Craft yourself a bow and some arrows and live off the land. Write your manifesto in a chicken coop.
