Havn't played since probly March-April. Is there somewhere I can find a quick rundown of the new things that have been added/implemented since then?

Interested to see how far the game has come along since then.

Yeah , cause thats exactly what I wanted to avoid doing - navigating through pages and pages of patch updates but thanks for taking the 15 seconds to type a helpful response.

In short, no.

 

Tents are in and persistence is switched on on selected servers, but it doesn't work properly as of now.

 

Vehicles are in the works - first one will be a lorry. 

 

Barricading is also in the works - details are thin so far.

since you know the patch versioning ( .39, .40, .41, etc) go to youtube and search for things like 'dayz standalone .49'  or something. People make videos of updated items and features.

 

Im in the same boat. One of the biggest things now is temperature/sickness issues. zeds are back to normal as far as being easy to kill (yet can see better than a satellite in space!), and the loot on standalone servers with persistence on seem to be a hit or miss (sometimes no loot at all in an entire town after a restart).

 

If you're back for vehicles or building, then might wanna take another hiatus. If you're back because you saw a youtube video or heard of it on a facebook ad like me and thought "man I miss that game!" then my suggestion is to literally just log in and start playing...if something doesn't work youtube it or hit the forums.

 

Oh, fishing is pretty cool too if you can ever find a hook (and rope, ashwood sticks, then dig up worms for bait). Ive found 3 in one day then none since. Hit or miss I guess.

I think the wiki patch logs are clear as hell. There really hasn't changed much. I must say you'll get very mad with the zombies now. They are seriously OP imo, spawn like crazy and follow ya everywhere. New armor, a new gun, AK110 if I remember right, a new shotgun, nothing spectacular.

actually yeah Ive had zeds spawn on top of me in woods nearby the towns im stalking for resources. Ill be crouched, in tab view for something, tab out then alt left/right and BAM theres a zed agro'd. Its happened more than once lately so I know its not random..plus they're out further than they'd typically spawn (then will wander out into the fields), but these are popping up on top of me. I have noticed though if you close a door as you run in they'll just stalk you outside..they don't appear to be able to open doors. but they will follow you up stairs/indoors if a doorway is left open.

Really? They just go straight through here, lol. Luckily it won't stay like that forever though.

That depends on the house. After some trials I managed to cage 5 or 6 zeds in the fire station. As a fresh spawn without a weapon, you can only run. Also, if you didn't see yet. With .49 the hive has been cleared. So if you had any old pre .49 character, it is gone for sure.

I didn't drink my coffee yet this morning and yours was the FIRST post I saw, hmm..And I understand <<exactly what you wanted to avoid doing>>: so here we go.

 

Everything you want to know is right here on these forums - it's all everyone talks about here, in fact; so you'll find plenty of DETAIL if you look.You've been here more than 70 times so you KNOW how EASY it is.

Let me make this easier; Here are some ways of getting what you want to know:

 

1 ) If you want a one paragraph synopsis of DayZ spend 5 minutes going through the ONLINE GAMING MAGAZINES...(there are plenty)  look up "DayZ" in the little GAME box at the top of the page. They will tell you. AND look at ALL the different opinions on YouTube while you're on line, there are about 12,000 of them. Just choose one without wasting time on the others.

2 ) - Play the game and find out.

3 )  - Pay someone to do your thinking for you and to deliver a one page summary with exactly the level of detail you require - I guess your Personal Secretary will have the habit of doing that for you (most of the folk on these forums don't do that kind of work). You may find it difficult to persuade players here to put more time into telling you what you want to know, than you are prepared to put into being interested in their opinion.

4 ) If you think the game MAY be worth that extra investment, read the PORTFOLIO - you are on page one of the portfolio - Many serious adult investors as well as us dumb kids, actually put time into finding out if something is worth investing in. I swear this is true. It works. Sometimes people become famous and rich just by doing that. Incredible hu?

5 ) If you don't have the time, see your analyst, for only a moderate few hundred dollars he will point out that you say you "don't have the time" because you are  in fact "not interested", you just don't know yourself very well (his opinion, not mine.; my opinion is more expensive)

6 ) No beans for you unless you want to go find them, there are ways of getting beans, but they don't fall out of the sky (and there's some useful detailed game info, right there)  If you don't know already where beans come from, that's another thing you have to "find out" about. Start by asking someone on the forum to explain to you how to be a person.They did it for me, as you can tell, right!   After that, everything is easy.

7 ) Expect people to help you when you have no intention of helping them, that always works.

8 ) Check out how many people turn up each week on this forum to say "I don't know if I want to play, I don't want to put the effort into to find out, so someone tell me about it, I cant be arsed to have to do it myself." There are quite a few. If you had time you could do a search.

9 ) Get someone else to play for you. (good idea! - save that EFFORT)

 

My question for you - why do you want to know?

 

Do you trust everyone on the forums to give you good info (like mine?) Do you expect all 2 million players to be better informed than you are, and all in agreement ?.. Do you think all these people are Intelligent, coherent, helpful AND they play all day. Well In fact you're right - I am all of those things I just mentioned  and so is everyone else here. We never disagree about anything. You've come to the right place - for long answers, for short answers, for LOLs, for arguments, lies, amazing tales, and for many different opinions. So read them all (or just pick one at random it's bound to be the correct answer you're looking for) and then make up your mind ... but .. BUT  ...

Also I'd like to point out, there's maybe 5-6 announcements tops you'd have to read through. And that's to get every update.

.43 was about April wasn't it?

Might be tough to read those point form patch notes though so I'll leave that up to you.

Juat go to announcements and do a quick read of the handful of changes in the last 4-5 patches and you'll have full understanding of where the game is at. They are all labeled for you.

I don't ever "fire off " briefs..I try to have some meaning in everything I say, so I just "post " them

This IS the brief, of course. You know what a brief is, you should have spotted it straight away - in fact it is Page 1 of the Portfolio - as you noted when you were dealing with the "incoming" I had "fired off"

How do you deal with that ("incoming")? Do you hide under your desk or do you have an special bunker?.

 

An odd thing about people is this - They will spend time doing what they WANT to do, but they do not like to spend time doing things they do NOT want to do.

And guess who I'm talking about ?

Here's a swag at some of the stuff over the past few months:

1. Fishing & Hunting
2. More crafting (make backpacks from pelts)
3. Camp fires
4. Chem lights and flares
5. Zed movements / pathing more reliable now via navmesh, far less likely to go through fences and walls (but doors still need work).
6. Hopper zeds now in game (the ones that crouch and jump like a frog at you)
7. More animals (and you can kill them). If you find chickens let everyone know because there's a lot of people who seem to be interested in that. If you find a pig leave it alone or Shrub Rocketeer ™ will come at you like a spider monkey.
8. More weapon variety, new meelee and rifles. Crossbows and crafted bows.
9. New towns on the map in the north.
10. NEAF has been redone.
11. Grenades! (although I'm yet to find one)
12. Persistence (if I write a note and leave it in the street and the server reboots, it will still be there for someone to find when the server comes back up).
13. Tents have been added.

I dunno, that's a list of stuff that sticks out in my mind.

My advice is: go ahead, dude - you"re a free agent just WRITE the INFORMATION the OP is asking for!

and then POST it.. instead of wasting your time trying to insult a no-brain like me.. I've really no brain = I've no way of telling the difference between an insult, a LOL, or anything else.. I can't even tell if  "baaaaaaa" is a word, or is it just your head hitting the keyboard?

 

WRITE the damn POST for the OP, the way you think it should be written .. instead of worrying about other posts that aren't good enough, Just take your own time to tell him what HE WANTS to know

OK, that easy, right? My opinion is I don't think he actually read any of the posts in this forum.. but if he did, or does and he objects to my post; I'll apologize for being too hard on him ( I just did that on another forum here yesterday so I'm not talking through my sphincter). But this really depends if he puts the effort into reading the posts in the first place.

 

I don't mind the guy asking questions and I'm ready to help (I like the game, I like the comments and the people, that's why I'm here) -  it's the way he was sarcastic about the first reply he got - his comment  about  'I don't want to wade through that stuff' and  'no beans for you for 15 seconds of effort'. I thought was a little .. ya know ... impolite ?  =IMO=

 

So I WILL read every word of your REALLY USEFUL ANSWER TO THE OP with interest when you write it. And give you beans if it's worthwhile. (hell, I'll give you beans whatever I think of it, as long as you answer his question).

Your input could be useful to everyone sending "is it worth logging-in this month?", "shall I reinstall that game?" and "I cant' be bothered to look, so tell me what's happening?" posts. Hey Pillock - make the "15 seconds" of effort to help people. Then you'll feel good about yourself. And the OP will be very pleased, I'm sure. Imagine how worried he must be right now, having to watch YouTube to find out if there are 'vehicles' and 'camp construction' and 'barricades' in DayZ, because he can't find out here on the forum. I blame you for that. You should have told him.

 

Truly, I don't mind about the "baaaaaa" - really - honestly.. I thought maybe you'd hurt yourself or fallen asleep with your face in the keys or something.
