venkman302 6 Posted October 9, 2014 Title says it all. I've eaten cans of beans, banana's, potatoes, you name it. Hydrated gets super green but the energized only stays the dull green. What gives? How do I get my status to healthy? Thanks!
StarLord (DayZ) 39 Posted October 9, 2014 You're not alone. This happened to me last night as a matter of fact. I was so frustrated I corralled about 5 zombies in Novo and then let them gang rape my char.
Tegla (DayZ) 112 Posted October 9, 2014 Its weird. I usually got both energized and hydrated at the same time, but a few days ago was the first time i got "healing" as well. I read somewhere that you have to sit down and rest once in a while to trigger it, but i can't confirm that this is correct. Though me and my buddy were frequently sitting down by the fire whenever we got cold, and sat down until both of us smoked a cigarette. Just chilling by the fire, you know. That may triggered it
Officer25 54 Posted October 9, 2014 It's sodas, you derps. Soda is the only thing that will give you that last boost of energy to make you light green.

grindstone50k 208 Posted October 9, 2014 Just ate a bunch of cooked boar steaks. Took about 4 or 5 to go from no energy bar to healing.

jukaga 271 Posted October 9, 2014 food and eating are broken atm. i'll stay hydrated running across the map but be starving 20 minutes after eating 3 cans of food.

Over and over again I would eat and eat and eat until I puked but I was still hungry. Sodas always made me energized. Conclusion: Sodas are the only current thing that actually boost up your energy/hunger. Edited October 9, 2014 by Officer25

LucidHills 94 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) It still works for me. The lower food spawns means it's harder to find enough to eat to get light green Energised.I only got to it yesterday when I found two small towns completely unlooted and there were cans of food everywhere. I stocked up and haven't been in the dark green since. As for healing/healthy:Healing is triggered when energised is light green and hydrated at least dark green. Healthy is triggered when the conditions for healing have been met for a few minutes. ~Updated~Made a new post with more info over on the next page. Not entirely true, I've got healing with out being hydrated, if you eat mostly foods that have some hydration (Peaches, Beans, Sardines and such) you can get to healing with out being fully hydrated.Healing is when you're body is regenerating blood, healthy is achieved when you've fully regenerated all it's blood which also means you can get healthy without even seeing healing. Sleeves 98 Posted October 10, 2014 Have you tried non - processed foods from trustworthy farmers who do not use pesticides? Farms which do use chemicals can also have them seep into the water supply, further harming your health. Add on the farm animals drinking that water or eating contaminated grass and it is even worse. Also try picking meats that come from animals which do not eat hormone boosting meals.http://authoritynutrition.com/9-ways-that-processed-foods-are-killing-people/This man explains it rather well.
ryanincalgary 20 Posted October 10, 2014 I had this same problem. I'm pretty sure the more you run around the more water/energy you use. I eventually got Energised/Hydrated/Healthy by eating only water full foods like fruit and peaches drinking water until I was full and walking around when inside buildings.
KrackProphet 28 Posted October 10, 2014 Hunting makes finding food very easy as long as you have an axe to cut down firewood. You can search for kindling by looking at the ground in forested areas and scrolling mouse wheel.
Swarzey 12 Posted October 10, 2014 Personally I've noticed (whether it's how it is or isn't, whatever) that cooking meat gets my character energized much, much...much quicker than eating fruits/canned food. My current character has been alive for a week and I've only lost being energized once simply by relying on what I kill rather than looting houses.
CANUCKinNZ 108 Posted October 10, 2014 I don't save any food or drink right now. Just eat and drink anything I find as I roam. I don't even put it in my inventory. Just eat all of the ground. Eventually you will get stuffed or spew and know it's time to take a break.

Not true either. Health and blood are two different stats. When you reach green energised and hydrated (dark green or light green, it doesn't matter, both trigger it, although of course light green means it goes faster) you will start regenerate blood. The player is not informed of this, but you can see it by colours regaining saturation. When you reach full blood you begin healing, and this is notified with the "healing" message. When you have regained full health you get the "Healthy" message, which in effect means you got full blood and full health. dirrly 70 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) IMO it's also a question of what you eat, is that possible? My experiences have been that I got the "bright green energized" faster, if I ate some rice / cornflakes combined with the canned food and vegetables. Don't know. LucidHills 94 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) [Video link] A summary for those who don't want to sit and watch a 40 minute video:Energised = Slow blood regeneration (1 Blood / second)Energised + Hydrated = Full blood regeneration (3 Blood / second)Energised + Hydrated + 100% blood = Healing (1 Health / second)Healthy = 100% Health Also, your body temperature effects rates of energy and hydration consumption. When too hot, you consume water at a higher rate. The rate increasing the more over heated you are. When too cold, you consume energy at a higher rate. Again, this is increased by how cold you are. This is until you become Hypothermic. When you become Hypothermic you start losing both Health and Blood. For more information on temperature in DayZ, here is a video on Hyperthermia (Hot) and one on Hypothermia (Cold). Different food items will give you more energy than others. Some food will add to your hydration too, others will reduce it.For example, rice and powered milk currently have the highest energy content in the game but both will reduce your hydration when eaten because they are very dry.
