theevancat 94 Posted September 29, 2014 I've always kind of kept mine. Never had to use it much, since I've always been able to find daylight or something like an AK tac rail and flashlight. But I've always kept it just in case I need it.
DerDuderich 149 Posted September 29, 2014 Who here actually uses the flash light instead of turning the settings up? Agree. I myself do the very same. Personally I like playing on night servers, I think night adds a lot to the atmosphere. You can really feel the danger then. If I was on a protected privat server with only "normal" players I would definitly play on normal settings and actually use chemlights and stuff. But with all the KoS Call-Of-Duty Kiddies recently it's a suicide mission to play on normal settings and carry a light. If the server has more then 10 players you'll be dead within 10 Minutes without seing a player. I guarantee it. :( So I drop both, flashlight and battery (stun is useless imho, unless I encounter a bandit I'm friendly anyways).
Schweinsteiger 107 Posted September 29, 2014 I don't get why anyone would save the flashlight. Until the Devs come up with a way to stop people turning up their gamma at night the flashlights are useless. I always threw away my battery and flashlight, then ripped up my shirt for rags. Now that weather effects have been added, along with cattle prods and stun batons I keep the battery and don't rip up my shirt anymore, unless I'm bleeding and have no other way to stop the bleeding. hombrecz 832 Posted September 29, 2014 Couple of things need to be changed, before night time is good: 1. we need new renderer to make night look better. Arma 3 has a lot nicer nights! 2. once we have new renderer, maybe it will be possible to "lock" gamma & brightness. I remember, in Arma 3, I could not "cheat" night with brigthness/gamma at some point. Not sure how they managed, but it was definitely there although I'm not sure if it was connected to specific night cycle only. 3. Light should not shine through solid matter. Not fun when you try to use flashlight in dark night only to appear as small version of Lighthouse. If night was the same for everyone, I'd play it, but please NO pitch black nights.
Deathlove 2286 Posted September 29, 2014 Actually this pole needs to be changed its not just a straight YES or NO answer. Some of us throw away the flashlight but keep the batteries because they can be used in many other devices.
Irish. 4886 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) I dont ever use flashlights so its a no brainer each time I spawn in.. Sometimes I save the battery for one of the many things that need it, but often even that gets dropped for things that open cans, and more useful items. With the way night is now (no more pitch black) I never need lights, and ALWAYS run my gamma/brightness on default. I do love setting off flares and chemlights tho.. ..like really love it. s1rGr1nG0 81 Posted September 29, 2014 First thing I do is drop the flash light, drop the battery, and tear my t-shirt into rags. Then i sprint to the nearest buildings and start my search.
