Khanarac 252 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Seriously though, why can't we? Because it's alpha? Why not start taking reports and pursuing the baddies before the launch of 1.0. Wouldn't that make the game better at launch? Imo that's the worst thing about the hacking. The certainty that you know there is no one to take your report to. IF BE doesn't catch them, no one will manuanly ban them. And why do they not have access to movement logs but they do have that in the mod? I would imagine it would be build into that Arma 2.5 engine that dayZ SA started as. BEdev-SableSurvivor BattlEye Staff216 postsSent 13 April 2014 - 05:47 PMWe cannot ban anyone based on third-party evidence, I'm sorry. And no, we do not have access to movement logs. It would be interesting to know what exact hack (provider) he used.[Way too many] and counting..."Fuck that battleeye dude. In the mouth with a 7.62 round. Let us hack in peace! Let *** work on other things!" Boneboys, understand that players are not only concerned about reporting new hacks to bohemia, but we want the cheaters themselves erased. Please make logs readable. When the announcemt of private shards came, I had some hope regarding this. But how are we supposed to kick cheaters off our private shards if we can't access logs? Why would we rent private shards if we can get abused by cheaters on our own whitelisted servers, when we have no means of knowing and kicking the guy off the whitelist who hacked. odin_lowe 3686 Posted September 26, 2014 Kichi posted this. It's one of the only way to report them really. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/211777-if-you-believe-you-have-found-evidence-of-an-unknown-hack/#entry2121715 In hoping that BE will eventually do something more too. Khanarac 252 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Well they locked the topic because basicly every report or rant about hacking got merged into that topic. Of course that leads to an unproductive topic. But they seem to blame the forumusers for the locking of this topic. What do they expect when there is no one to go to once you've been hacked? People go on the forum to let off steam. It's also a random hive of people with diffrent levels of analytical skills and knowledge about what is possible within this engine. Of course many reports will be bullshit. And that what you linked is again related to the science of finding unknown hacks, which is not relevant for my point here. We may be able to report hacks, but not the hackers, even when we can provide names, even with video evidence, even in the rare cases when we know their steamaccount names. sab0t 109 Posted September 26, 2014 I'm not really sure what "evidence" I would collect to report a hack or hacker. me and a friend just got killed by someone teleporting and shooting us last night, but there are no tools or utilities available to help. Do I just get a list of all of the recent players from the server, from steam, and say "it was one of these people"? I haven't yet been able to think of another way of doing so. and I don't normally record video footage of me playing, nor do I think it would be very helpful..."yep, he/she teleported..neat"

If only you actually read what was posted in that thread Odin linked: Kichi posted this. It's one of the only way to report them really. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/211777-if-you-believe-you-have-found-evidence-of-an-unknown-hack/#entry2121715 You knew what you would have to do. You can report and it will be looked into. I do not know where your wrong assumption is originating from.. That quote of Sable is from April, by the way. That's more than five months ago and at the time there was that topic. Now there is a different way of approaching this. You should just use those ways. We are in contact with the DayZ Developers as well as the BattlEye Devs and we're gathering data to be used to fix any security-holes currently out there. It's currently being worked on actively to help with the security-integrity of the game alltogether. There is not much I can say about this, naturally. But this is the very nature of it all - can't say more than the fact that it's currently being worked on. You were saying it's the fault of the Forum-Users. Yes, of course. We were trying to moderate that topic as much as we could. But it usually ended up with people jumping on the Forum and letting off Steam directly after being killed. This does not mean they were killed illegitimately - it could have just been that they were killed by a player that has been smarter / more experienced then them. This is the first point. The second point being, that it was almost impossible to moderate that topic in the end anymore, even though we tried as hard as we could. You might think it'd be okay to "let off some steam" on our Forum - but in the end it is not. It might be, if you're still being somewhat reasonable about it. But in most cases (may that be because of the age of the people in question) it ended up with insults towards the DayZ- or BattlEye-Developers as well as abusive behaviour towards others. All of our doing and our words or warnings did not help, which is why the community has to suffer the consequences now. As mentioned in other places - this will not stay like this forever - but for now you will have to Dean with it.
