i5 4960 hd 4400 graphics

so after a few weeks of wanting to play dayz and not having enough money for a decent pc i went with a intel 4960 with hd4600 intergrated graphics hoping i could play dayz downloaded it for 19.99 and hoped for the best . didnt mind donating now even if i had to wait month or two for a graphics card ,

my pc also has a SSD which i think helps alot in dayz

 

so i get 50fps nice ! 25-30 with fraps recording (not really going to do alot ) but on the over hand even with the FPS it so smooth very quick

 

cant wait for GRAPHICS CARD to see it in all its beauty but i can handle what i got to play with for now

accidently put 4400 its actually 4600 graphics

Uploaded a quick vid , think i got my settings nice i not going argue with 50 frames a second

 

ill update this thread some weeks from now with a gtx 780 installed see what i get :D

i recommend a i5 4690 because its got graphics you can use for now , its cheap and fast , a ssd is needed , but the upgradable aspect too ... i7 gtx 780 ... on same board . highly recommend the i5 for afordable pc gaming at console price . especially for newbies like me :D

Can you do me a favor and go into a full server and make a video in a town like Svet?  Curious as to what your frames will be in a location like that, as opposed to out in a field.  I am curious as to what your frames would be on the low end on that chip.

Standing on the coast isn't the best of benchmarks. With a GTX 760 I get nearly 100+ 70+ FPS on the coast. Try going inland or to Svetlojarsk (GPU judgement day)

Yeah I'm afraid if all you're getting is 50fps right there, it will be more like 15-20 (or worse if on a high population server and there are other players within rendering distance)  in novo/cherno/electro/etc.

Save your coin for a graphics card a high level 700 card may get alot cheaper at the end of the year when nvidea announce there 900 series cards( they jumping 800 as thats there mobile card range or so its been said)

oh yeah sure thing i am doing that  , im expecting high frame rate , that was my hope when i went for a i5 instead of a smaller cpu and graphics card together , so while saving for a graphics card (wasnt going to buy a pc without being able to play dayz) i realised i might be able to play with just a higher cpu with the money i had which would help for future upgrades

 

my list of things to do 

 

1, GTX 700 series what ever fits the bill at the time

2. another 4 gig of ram i got this sorted just another cosair 1600mhz

3.a hdd for videos and movies and apps i dont really need optimized - dayz is currently on SSD kingston drive

4.a cosair 650 watt psu , i got a standard generic powerpak , this will future proof my power supply and i need good power

5.after a while i will need more power so maybe sell the i5 chip on ebay and buy a faster i7 say a 4ghz at this time of press./ im thinking dean and his team will support 8 core if not i stay i5 - this is going be after new engine is fully optimized and i read all about it :)

6.a gaming keyboard and mouse ,  a counter balanced ,mouse and decent keyboard any suggestions for keyboard , my one i brought (tacky and cheap backlit from china) the keys stick and hard to press sometimes,  i would like something fluid and backlit :D

 

if you have a idea on a mouse and keyboard that be good as i order mostly online and cant test out stuff before it comes

as of now i really think it be a unfair benchmark but as you took your time to ask i did one anyway with better settings 

i increased my graphics and res to 1080p i get a steady 30fps over grass/woodland , i get a steady 25 in berizino just now ,it lowest drop is 21 if i look at the floor it jumps up to 30 if i put fraps on i get 18

 

its still very playable there is no screen slow down as i would of expected , it really still smooth or i would of put the graphics down a bit more

 

the reason for my graphic change with  the texture models , they spawn in white untill i get closer and i see shadow flicker and object flicker , this doesnt really have a effect on frame rate , the real frame rate issue is when i turn on AA and increase the resolution ,

 

really it is very playable with just the intergrated graphics

Hmm i am probably the wrong person to ask on the keyboard and mouse , why because i am such a logitech fan boy lol . My weapons of choice is the g710+ keyboard (with cherry brown switches) it is back lit with dual fields allowing you to customize and light up areas you want to work with . For the mouse i use the g502 which is great vary adjustable in the size to fit the hand well and adjustable weight and balance , its an all round mouse with plenty of buttons (less than a MMO mouse but more than a standard FPS mouse) easy dpi settings to get the feel just perfect( from 200 to 12000 dpi)

 

Oh of note i went to my mates shop today and the 900 series is in and i got to play with one to see what they can do ( he only let me fuck around with a reference 970 though) and i have to say holy shit there beast i managed to clock the thing over 1500mhz on a standard reference air cooler, it sat happily at 64c while blasting valley benchmark at extreme settings and was surprisingly quite (seriously the thing will eat a 780 for far less money hell it will keep stride with a 780ti at stock) nice one Nvidea i approve of the maxwell chipset lol..

I mean a 970 is far less money than a 780 currently and it well outperforms it easily here in Australia that 780 is around the 680 dollar mark( 780ti is 7to 800 odd ) and that 970 is 420 bucks.....

I like MSI (they make great mobo's for the money ) having tested them up against evga counterparts they perform  just aswell (although thats in the short run i have never had both of the same gpu to test over the years for reliability and i know evga has great reliability as my son has one of my old pcs with a gtx470 from evga and its about 6 years old and it gets hammered daily and it hasnt skipped a beat, but its got an MSI mobo in it and that hasnt either....
