Fire doesn't warm you up.

Recommended Posts

So far have had no issues with weather after getting gorka gear and a radar cap.

Personally I find it pretty lame that they pretty much force you into military gear more and more.  Before it was storage space, I would easily do with cargo pants and the hoodie etc.   Now with what seems to be constant rain, you would be silly not to wear gorka exclusively.

Ushanka hats are awesome, I think

For some reason, sweatshirts do jack all to keep you warm.

TTsKo gear is pretty good as well, apparently.

Gorka gear reigns supreme!

I cool down too much in Gorka.  Raincoats don't help either.

Do they have a warm winter cammo besides the bright white stuff?

Hats warm you up quite a bit we found.  What they should give you is a warm liner for the helmets like they have in real life.

I don't understand why the characters get so cold all the time. It's constantly saying that I'm cold and shaking. Pretty annoying.

The quality and type of clothing you have on, as well as your elevation and if you are wet or not have massive effects on how cold you get. Basically if your wet in the western part of the map in the late afternoon, you guna freeze to death.

Balaclavas seem to be good headwear against the cold too.

I was running about for two hours as a fresh spawn post reset with nowt but the basic starter gear, my t-shirt in rags in my small backpack and a wooly bobble hat on my head. It kept complaining about the cold but I survived quite happily whilst hunting for warm clothing.

Was just out in the middle of nowhere in a torrential rainstorm last night and camped down by some trees in the rain and got a fire going. Even with the rain pouring down I quickly went from cold and soaking to just damp...

Finally hooked up with a friendly player, and we got caught in Novodimtrovosk at night in the rain and started freezing, then he said we'll chop some firewood. Then I said wait we need a bundle of sticks and some rags to make a fireplace. So then we split up looking for sticks. I had a bright red hypothermia status and was freezing to death. Then as I'm looking in the Wiki I can figure out you can split a log into sticks LOL. Of course my buddy was long gone and it was pitch black, and I was frantically looking for an axe so I could make sticks. I thought to myself, ahh, you won't freeze to death in like 10 minutes cmon. Then as I was going in and out of buildings in which I can remember times almost tripping over piles of axes, none could be found. Got into another room with some utensil with a handle oh whats this an Axe! You are dead. Just like that lol. The cold don't play no games! As of now I've built a campfire on the second floor of the apartment buildings you find in cherno and it's warming me, I'm sitting alarmingly close but it takes about 5 minutes to go from soaking/cold to no status of damp or cold whatsoever.

you can chop down bushes with a machete(and maybe some other things) for sticks as well. or just go into a forested area(dark brown ground) look down at the ground and 'search for kindling' which are sticks.

I'm willing to make big allowances for the broken climate and character temperature issues as it's brand new and obviously just being tested. They want to see some min/max values and I'm sure will come to a more reasonable model closer to release.

It works inside the jail and air traffic control towers.

I only do that when I wear my shirt with the giant target on the back. :D

How about something.g half open like the sheds or grain sun shades?

I'm always cold with a sweatshirt, radar cap and jeans. I guess I need a different jacket.

I think shoes are a big factor as well.  I ran around with hoodie and beanie, and stayed warm enough as long as I kept dry.

My fire started to melt my face off last night.  Might just be you.

This.

I was playing on a near-empty server and had managed to dip myself into a pool of water, resulting in being completely soaked & shaking.

Got a fire started and laid down near it, then went to bathroom. Two minutes later I hear the saying "Atle, why does it say that your face is melting?"

Never before has a man wiped his own ass that quickly.

Maybe the condition of the clothes you wear has an impact? My current 3PP Char has relatively cheap gear - a beanie, a black hoodie, auutum hunter pants and athletic shoes, but everything is pristine and i get "I am slowly cooling off" / "I am slowly warming up" alternating, so i should be fine.

I tried this just to see for myself, but from my test, the fire that I put up inside of a building definitely warmed me up.

It also made the building look like this from the outside, which was fucking neato.

Sunlight (Forest colder than fields. Clouds mean something)

Elevation (Mountains colder than coast)

Wetness (Being dry > being wet)

Clothing (heavier clothing = warmer)

I think there's another factor I'm forgetting..

But yes, fires warm you up and dry you off.

It will warm you up when outdoors, within rooms it won't. Should be fixed and I'm sure they will.

I don't think they should fix it, you should die of smoke inhalation and burn the house down if you start a fire inside.

It should still warm you up just before you die of the smoke :)

To be real, in certain circumstances it should not be a problem, there are actually houses in the game with a fire place, we should be able to use them. (yes yes, the chimney won't have been cleaned for possibly some years and could be blocked by a birds nest) :P

Also, fires were lit in houses for thousands of years. As long as you have a non flammable (non heat affected) area and a proper way to dissipate the smoke trough let's say an open window it could be ok.
