qwer4790 26 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) After players' hive were reset, I saw too many server hosts restart their server rapidly for loot, however, this action is not allowed by rules of server hosts, I don't see any punishment about this. I have reported a server 1 month ago, for its owner restart frequently for loot and protect his character, but that server is still alive and continues to do this after 0.49 patch. Server providers said they would investigate but seems nothing happen, maybe they just gave a literal warning.Perhaps we need to add a cooldown to restart? SmashT 10907 Posted September 18, 2014 With persistence being rolled out wouldn't this become futile?
johnny0964 (DayZ) 15 Posted September 18, 2014 I doubt this is going to be fixed in the near-future. A problem like this needs to take time to be attacked. We all want something like this to disappear but it won't happen soon.
qwer4790 26 Posted September 18, 2014 With persistence being rolled out wouldn't this become futile? so, is persistence is really work as intend? I mean, If they found it's futile to do this, why do they keep restarting within 10 mins?
Richard III in Leicester 200 Posted September 18, 2014 If that's true, it's just a shitty server and my best advice would be to move on and hopefully find a good server that plays properly. Don't let them being dick heads ruin your experience is what I say.
SmashT 10907 Posted September 18, 2014 so, is persistence is really work as intend? I mean, If they found it's futile to do this, why do they keep restarting within 10 mins? Well persistence and the central loot economy are still in active development (and persistence is currently opt-in only). I'm not familiar with the mechanics and don't have a server to test them on but I would assume loot will eventually (if not already) no longer spawn on restart and instead re-spawn dynamically as needed while the server is running and existing items will persist throughout restart so restarting for fresh loot will be a waste of time. It wouldn't be worthwhile implementing a restart cooldown if those systems eliminate the issue.

This still doesn't stop administrators from restarting their server the moment they are killed in order to save their character. It is paid combat logging.
