  1. This still doesn't stop administrators from restarting their server the moment they are killed in order to save their character. It is paid combat logging.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

I'm sure admin tools will be released eventually but I would rather see the game hosted by them versus hosted by the community. The game is not complete right now, my argument has been, how can you allow people to have servers/server rules when the rules of the game are not even done yet? Admin tools are a feature and feature implementation should fall second to software exploit detection/correction, in my opinion. I am very enthusiastic about the game and I would only consider hosting if it were a finished product. I apologize if it comes off as "harassment" but I strongly oppose the community self regulating with server rules at this point simply because games like that die in a very short period if I do not join a clan of some kind. My friends and I go to play together I try to join a server, "nope banned" you pick the server then "nope I'm banned off this one." People get stuck on two or three servers that are over run with hackers while the rest of the population is divided into clans that request you join their forums and or make donations. I don't think they have a complete enough game for that. I apologize for discussing it because this is the thread about the current state of hacking in dayzsa not the current state of admin tools.

I still think at this point those tools will be used to "scrutinize" everyone and take away from the game more than benefit it. I'm just speculating, but I'm pretty sure the developers have a good reason why they have not released better admin tools up to this point. I have skimmed over several other threads in suggestions about the lack of efficient admin tools and have not found an official answer. Lets do some math though and feel free to correct me if my numbers are off. Say it costs $100 dollars to rent a server for a month and lets say there are two thousand rented servers for a year of run time(I could be rounding up) that is about $2.4mil. Well the game already sold 2 million copies and if you multiply that by just $2 a copy(I spent $30 dollars on my copy), it is still way more than admins have spent renting servers up to this point. So you see, all the ball kissing has already been done, you pushed the big red button just the same as the rest of us, so welcome to crowd sourced testing and the thread where we discuss/complain the current hacking status in dayzsa. I would love to see an official reason why admins have had shotty tools or a promise of when to expect admins to be banning me for killing them, looting their airfield, expressing my opinion, etc. etc. etc. I would rather developers focus their efforts on correcting the software exploits rather than making sure that you have the ability to ban and report what they already know. Besides we both know that you are here angling for support for your suggestion for admin tools which is why you won't continue to discuss the negative impact this could have on the level of immersion of an experience that has not been fully revealed to us. It's like you're talking in the middle of a movie, it's not about you sssshhhhhhh.

I never doubted that hacks and scripts ruin the game. I understand that you won't run a server without some control over it, and if that is the depth of your enthusiasm for the game then it sounds like a personal problem. I love online games where I only have to respect the TOS and the game environment. I can't count how many times I have been kicked out of nearly empty Dayz servers. I don't want to deal with bullcrap server rules, I want to play my game. No, admin tools are not the right solution to the hack problem, and no I don't want to have to figure out which servers have good rep or have to have a good relationship with admins or have to respect them. I think Dayz standalone is designed to welcome free thinking survivors, not server rule following lemmings. I can't prove whether someone killed me with an aimbot/esp or not but I can tell when they are speedhacking, teleporting, taking my gear off, etc. Those are software exploits and the responsibility of BattlEye and Bohemia to correct, not admins.

I agree that they should have a reporting system, because many anti-cheat systems do. However, when dealing with skilled players or closet hackers it would be very challenging to differentiate. If only statistical information is provided then there would not be strong enough evidence to confirm nor deny. If you have a tool such as a screen capture then it could very easily be used by admins to exploit and locate players. I used to be in a sniping clan and I know they exploited screen cap because I would then see the admins using the spots they saw others using. Admins shouldn't be allowed to see where I am shooting from because they are getting wrecked. Additionally, there would be a great flood of global ban proposals for them to sort through and it would take days for a single legit hacker to get banned. What more if hackers toggle their cheats on and off like they have in other games? The problem is still the system. I have seen other people with great suggestions of active systems that check for modified game content etc. Giving the admins more power is not going to solve all the hacking problems. I even think it will be used by some to make new problems. "If you don't agree with why you were banned, become a member on our forums and ask for permission." Screw that! The banwave system sucks but it is better than having admins dictate how I play MY game.

Yeah I have a problem with giving admins any kind of global banning authority. In other games I have been banned off servers for no reason. I have heard a horror story of a friend being admin banned in arma3 that prevented them from playing on popular servers. They lost their whole copy of the game because some admin thought they were hacking and provided false reasoning/information. This is bullcrap and should not even be a consideration for implementation. I was at the top of my fps ability in CODMW1 and got banned off my own clan server because the leader was an angry drunk standing in the open waiting to get fragged. So I fragged him over and over until he finally yelled out "ban him!" So I should have been thrown in with the same lot as the hackers? I don't think so, I got banned off the server because he was being a piece of crap so I quit the clan. I'm sorry, admin banning is not and should not ever be a prerequisite to any kind of global ban. I can tolerate being banned off of one server so that the newbies can have their sanctuary but having this being part of a check system of any kind is a bad idea.

While I have searched to see the lowlifes at work on youtube, I would never download from public hosts or even visit a webpage that claims to host hacks. It's a terrible idea to go looking for undetected hacks especially if you are not getting payed to do so.

Yeah because if you get banned by one butt hurt admin you will be banned on all servers. Please don't give the bullies a bigger stick.

Also, banwave? The purpose of this is milking the dumb kids that keep putting quarters into the machine and boosting the game on top selling list on steam. What a joke, like I said before: A banwave is just a painpill for cancer. Edit: If they are just going to keep on doing banwaves I won't be surprised if they change the name of the product and move to Bermuda to live off the five percent. It's not hard for a pro dev to write checks for hacks: If player moves 100 meters per second horizontally then ban. For a pro team of badass developers most of the current hacks could be knocked out in one patch if they made finding the source of the software exploits their purpose. Hackers are crapping all over the Dayz name and the community here is paying the price. I believe they need to FIX, not alleviate what they currently have before trying to add more, because the game environment is broken.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

The current hacking status in Dayz is: EVERY populated server has a hacker. We spent a day or two avoiding confrontation with other players and only playing on unpopulated servers to gear up. In the first populated server our group joined today we all got killed by a single teleporter/speedhacker using esp/aimbot. I'm done with dayz for now. I spent years learning how to be sneaky and some kid with esp/aimbot, teleport/speed, no clip, flying, item fabrication, force emotes, force inventory access, force teleport(just to name a few) learns my style in seconds, kills me, then gloats about it over my corpse. The thing that really pisses me off is that I'm told that some of these are the same hacks that were used in the mod. Is this true? If so, WTalphaF? Hackers have the sole purpose of ruining the experience for everyone. I'm not interested in a static banwave of known hackers, they will just return on smurf accounts and do it again. It's like painpills for cancer, I have seen it in other games. Early access is going to be a year old in December while feature implementation is priority one and it seems security exploit detection/correction is nonexistent. Alpha or not, hero or bandit, how can this even be considered a testing experience for anyone if the only method of testing is alone or getting hacked? Have you ever seen flying golden warthogs in Halo2? How about PB screenshots of esp in BF2? Speed hackers in Nether? The quantity of different kinds of hacks in Dayz is more than any other game I have EVER played. The frequency of hackers I personally encounter is equal to some free to play game experiences I have had. If hackers have this many exploits now, how many will they have further down the pipe? The current play/test experience is broken, and I'll be watching the patch notes.

Just got killed by a teleporting naked person with an M4. Just so the devs know these hackers are actively recruiting people I stayed in menu over my corpse and he is trying to sell hacks while giving away my gear. I even got the guy's steam name because he was dumb enough to trade names over my corpse. Reported.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

I'm a pretty new player and I tried to make my first thread in new player discussion about hackers but it was closed and I was sent here. I rarely have armed conflicts with legit players. Most of the time it is some guy who teleports behind us and kills everyone with an axe or headshots. It has gotten so bad that if you spend more than five to ten minutes in a populated server you will encounter a teleporter. One of my friends was undressed then approached by the hacker and was told that for a small fee of $10 he could get him the hacks. Cheat protection should be feature priority one for the devs and maybe it is but in my small 185 hours of game time I have seen one person get banned by BE for hack. I'm ready to see script kiddies getting bounced regularly but it's probably going to continue like this for months and maybe even years. I have experienced this with other games and just ended up quitting and so did my friends because it took too long to get cheat protection. I have a couple of weeks of threshold for dealing with cheaters of this frequency then I will just stop playing and start reading. We have seen people teleport, fly, speedhack, item fabricate, and undress other players. I'm sure they also use esp and aimbot but these require software to detect.

    Fun Game

Only one problem, HACKERS! My friend and I were sniping and another player shot at us so we moved back up the hill and ran into another two players and one of them called me out by name! This really pisses me off but I can contain it mostly since the servers are monitored by admins some of the time. This game is much better than Nether imo but hackers ravage the servers over there also.
