likeafox72 3 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) The Uk vz. 59 (Universal Machine Gun Model 1959) is a machine gun developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s. It still remains in use by the Slovak Armed Forces and the Czech Army. It fires the 7.62x54mmR round via an ammunition belt. It was featured in Arma 2's Armies of the Czech Republic expansion. Seeing that Chernarus is a post-Soviet based off geographically based off an area in northern Czech Republic, this gun would fit the setting of the game (probably even more than the Russian PKM). No... A, the Chernarussian Army uses the PKM, B, no other communist nations used the vz. 59, C, everyone uses the PKM...

AP_Norris 1018 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) In b4 survival scrubs complain about it, despite the fact that guns wouldnt disappear IRLThey wouldn't disappear, they should still be around. But they would be the first things to get snatched up.Inexperienced people take them, go around fire them with surplus rounds, leave them for a while and corrode the barrel and chamber.Guns left over would be guns that people used before the infection, guns that are maintained easily that can be taken apart and cleaned by a novice shooter.Guns that would survive several years, which I'm guessing by car degrading has how long it has been since day 0. THE <insert reasonable and legitimate gun> DOESNT BELONGLike you said though, its.been long enough for the tires to dry-rot (accordin to Life After People it takes 100 years give or take) soooo... DAMMIT LOREIFY YOUR GAME ROCKET XD.Really, theres signs of 100s of years passing (cars) days or weeks passing (lights and tidy.houses suggesting everything we knew was a lie) and several months passing ( Calf high grass)But I mean, who needs a story/ time frame, right? It was designed by people who made blueberries poisonous and holly berries okay, they TOTALLY got this XD
Evil Minion 943 Posted September 10, 2014 No, definitely not because that's not ARMA. IMHO adding heavy firearms to survival game is not the best idea.I think its actually a good thing but has to be done right. Heavy firearms should be heavy to begin with - which means you have to go prone with bipod if you want reliably shoot something. Then the weapon and its attachments (including said bipod and the ammo belt) should be very rare making it hard to actually get it going - so most of the time even if you manage to find one you will have a less accurate, very heavy single-shot rifle - and then as ammo should be pretty rare anyways a weapon made for full-auto and suppression fire should eat through your precious rounds very quickly So you got a weapon that is potentially very powerful but also impractical and cumbersome. Which is great because if you manage to actually use it effectively you probably earned it. Either by surviving long enough to get it complete with attachments and ammo or by taking it from someone trying to get it and by overcoming its drawbacks. Anyways both machine guns and sniper rifles would probably work better if they changed prone in a way that requires you to either stand up or crawl to turn around (instead of just spinning around on your belly) - this way these weapons get a limited fire arc and become vulnerable to attacks from elsewhere or flanking.

IMHO adding heavy firearms to survival game is not the best idea.DayZ isn't ArmA, or Call of Duty, or Battlefield, or Counter-Strike, or Super Mario Bros, or Tetris, or any other video game. It's DayZ? What does this have to do with anything? The Uk vz. 59 (Universal Machine Gun Model 1959) is a machine gun developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s. You don't need to make a new post every time you want to suggest a weapon, in fact you should probably put them in the Community Weapon's thread if you really want them. I have a lot of suggestions (most have already been suggested by the community but haven't got much attention) so I might make a large post for them all.
