chokko 45 Posted September 7, 2014 Do they currently work ? It's pristine, has battery in it, turned it on, tried using it in my hand or using it from inventory... I press fullstop, or comma, and it only ever comes up with 'Direct communication'.I never see the 'frequency' channel. It seems to turn itself off after awhile, so I turn it back on...nothing. trtk 81 Posted September 7, 2014 You speak into direct communication when a walkie talkie is on, anyone who also has an active walkie talkie on that channel will hear you and can speak back. It doesn't broadcast to all players. It's meant for you and a friend to communicate ingame, but that's silly and bad since VOIP exists, and who would waste battery and bother with ingame things when they can use that. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
R0B3RTF1SH3R 66 Posted September 7, 2014 its much more than that.servers can broadcast on it. you meet new people, b4 just a name in the player list, check pulse is the only way to figure the name to the player.its equivelant of global chat. which thankful there is no global chat channel . imagine the spam.note* you will be heard in vicinity talking into your walkie. I even went within 500m of berez and hid in a bush trying to get a response on the walkie and zip ( also ended up running for me life when 2 guys heard me talking in the bush and put it under what i think from sound was sks fire , didnt hang around to find out... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

HIHBGaming 14 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Afaik, walkies are currently not working but they have worked in the past. They supposedly have a 32km range when they work right as well as being able to speak in the frequency chosen. I've tried recently and the frequency doesn't come up when you hit caps lock or / keys. blackberrygoo 1416 Posted September 7, 2014 Me and a friend tried during patch .44 , that's when walkie talkies would show the frequency in the bottom (where direct communication is , you could switch between direct and a couple of frequencies) we both had one , were both on the same channel one inside the fire station tower one outside the perimeter of the fire station in an apartment (far enough away to not hear each other speak Ingame just in case ) and we could not hear a thing ..
