R0B3RTF1SH3R 66 Posted September 10, 2014 why cant we have servers that large. PS2 has 1000 player servers.im hoping to see 340 player servers. 1 player for every km2an economy of bottle caps? traders that are player made not npcs. imagine running your own farmers market only to have to employ guards to stop theives etc.

R0B3RTF1SH3R 66 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) u think in an apocalypse only what 40 people in 1 country live? lets say this country had 1 million people. 99.9% of them die instantly. the rest of them are your 1000 Edited September 10, 2014 by R0B3RTF1SH3R
chompster 171 Posted September 10, 2014 Agree with everything except player count. 40 would be fine once vehicles and basebuilding is in. The map shrinks loads when you get a car and encounters are much more likely to happen. Not just due to mobility, but down to the sound and concealment disadvantages vehicles bring. Say you have a server with 3-4, 4-8 man groups, then a few lone wolfs in there. Those 3 or 4 groups going about there business in cars, motorbikes, and even maybe a heli really lights up the map for clan wars and camp hunting ect. Also for me its an immersion thing, I want the desolate feel, like only a few of us survived. 100 players in a chunk of land that size means that globally there would be millions of people left....hardly an apocalypse :)I really don't think vehicles will be as wide spread as you make it sound. You could probably go for a whole week before seeing or even hearing someone with a working car (if they're implemented right) No doubt the map will shrink due to vehicles but hopefully they'll continue to expand it by quite a bit in all directions. sloasdaylight 129 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) Oh and for everyone saying I said nonesense with "beta at the end of the year", read hicks fucking post:http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/200111-has-anyone-else-lost-faith-in-dayz/page-9#entry2106076You mean the one where he said they were aiming for the end of 2014 for beta? As in that's what they're hoping to accomplish? No where did I see him say it was coming at the end of 2014 for sure. No where has any dev (that I'm aware of) confirmed that there would absolutely be a beta by the end of 2014. P.S. Nice job using a comment made after my post to try to prove me wrong. P.P.S. You do know what ETA stands for right? As in Estimated Time of Arrival, and not exact? Edited September 10, 2014 by sloasdaylight
Khanarac 252 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Estimated, but everyone knows thats bullshit. And that's my whole point. Stop giving us bogus ETAs is what I said in the first place, Do you know what ETA means? There is no way their "aiming at end of 2014" can ever be accomplished, you know it. I hereby dub thee fanboy. I don't care now anyway, gone back to the mod. Edited September 11, 2014 by Khanarac
