Zombie Milkman 167 Posted August 23, 2014 Server: experimental 1pp southwest 0-4Map Area: northeast to central coast So, sure we have had more zombies, and on servers that have spawn issues so you can't even find a rag that can be a bad thing. I love the more zombies BUT, last night, woah... I run through the small coastal town east of Berinzino to my apple orchard w/ water well. I get some aggro zeds, more than usual, but I run around and lose them. I eat my apples, drink some water... slow start for a new spawn on low/no loot server but I like a challenge. Then I do the same in the town east of the lumber mill... pick up 1, 2, 3, 4 zeds.... Hmm, more than usual but I run around and lose them. Or think I lose them. I run into the lumber mill area, pick up 1, 2, 3 zeds... so I run back to do the ditch, and what happens but all the rest come running in as well. I do the circling ax murder sequence to nail most - get some lag hits which add up - start to bandage up and get two more zeds running at light speed that are on me before I can finish. I think that makes 9 zeds at that point... I run around, ax to the head, down they go, start to bandage and viola another zed on me before I can finish. Was it just coincidence combined with non-stealthy impatience (all my doing), or did the zed and the zed aggro go up again (change in server environment?) I actually died from the blood loss after my final encounter with three more of the bastards soon after. Imagine that, in a zombie game. I hope this is the way of things moving forward on all servers!
RagedDrew 209 Posted August 23, 2014 As far as I can work out and watched it happen with my own eyes. When you kill 1 zombie it'll respawn pretty close to you with aggro from before it had died. I've watched it happen, kill a zombie watch it spawn a few feet away and immediately aggro and run back. 3 friends and I were in Elektro, it was a low pop servers and we're just dicking around. We head to the building over looking the fire station (west side of the town) and we chop a couple of zombies on the way there, we get inside start eating and drinking, swapping some gear when one of the zombies we had killed spawned in the east field next to the fire station it aggros instantly on us (with his back towards us) rans at us as I said before it was a low pop and I'd just picked up a Ak101 and wanted to test fire it with the optics on it, so I send 1 round at it, see the blood splatter, it keeps coming, I put another round into it, more splatter but it's still coming so I open up on it, doing about 3 round bursts before it finally drops, about 2 seconds later the same zombie spawn in the same place, facing the same way (North with his back to us) and running at us. Not to go wasting rounds and to avoid attracting more zombies as we've already had to deal with a few that managed to ignore the new NavMesh and come up stairs, killing them in the wall way they we're respawn and running back to the house we're in, in the end we had to just leave. I know I shot and that got more zombies around but the fact that zombie had died by an axe like the others, it would respawn with aggro and head back. Now I'm not hating on the zombies, I mean it's a zombie survival, the more zombies the better but for them to retain aggro after dying isn't right.
Ultimoses 110 Posted August 23, 2014 (...) that managed to ignore the new NavMesh and come up stairs (...) I just wanted to point out, that if these Zeds really were ignoring the NavMesh, they wouldn't have been coming up the stairs ;)
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted August 23, 2014 I experienced similar on a stable branch server. Many people were complaining about neverending zombies but I managed to avoid it for awhile up until recently. It seemed like no matter how much ground I put between myself and a zed in aggro that it never lost me and for every zed I killed another came running almost instantly until I was overwhelmed. I for one hope they do something to correct this in the next update.
Schweinsteiger 107 Posted August 25, 2014 Had a similar situation up north, west of the NWAF in a small town. Had to deal with four or five Zeds in a row. Didn't see any spawn in but one followed after the other and I was axing them, so no guns. Anyone notice that when you're eating or bandaging and a Zed rolls up on you the cancel button take forever to stop you doing what you're doing? By the time I'm on my feet and getting my ax out I've already taken at least three hits.
svisketyggeren 662 Posted August 25, 2014 Ah I miss the times when I could stealthloot a town full of zombies at dusk/night

ld-airgrafix 403 Posted August 26, 2014 This is dayz compensating for lack of zombies. I really cant see hordes in dayz, i hope im wrong but doubt it.
CJFlint 357 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) This is just me but here was how I think they should handle the current zombie situation. As it stands now we know some zombies work the way they should, they path find, they can't go through walls. When I last played I was able to lock zombies in a room even. Then there are some zombies that just don't work the crawlers. They seem to be able to go through walls ect ect. Then there are some upright zombies that seem to be able to go through walls. They are broken, or just don't have there game mechanics or scripts yet. For these zombies that are broken or don't work yet, just have them on experimental and not on stable. Until they work correctly. Simple not brain surgery. And why add tons of them if they don't even work yet. I also don't like the idea of them re-spawning over and over in the same spot...but I guess I can live it for now. Edited August 26, 2014 by CJFlint
harteman 155 Posted August 27, 2014 I could be wrong, but it seems that the lower the population of players in a server, the more often things like this happen.
