DayZ is literally unplayable at the moment

I don't know about anyone else but, everytime the server has its scheduled reset, I log back in to a new spawn character, and there is no way for me to retain my existing character, so everytime I try to play, I keep getting setback and constantly pissed off frankly. Is there a solution to this annoying bug? If so help me before I ragequit this game...

Someone posted something about that earlier...apparently, if the server resets, you need to log onto a different server, which will save your char. After that, you can go back to the previous one.

 

I haven't had the problem yet tho, so I can't confirm.

I tried all that, nothing saves it, this has happened 3 times now, I finally found a grenade and now its fucking gone because of this game and its annoying bugs, and yes I understand its early alpha but I'm still going to complain.

Don't worry, the grenades are underwhelming and buggy. Threw a flashbang as a joke to my buddy (after pulling the pin of course) and it disappeared. This was a pristine one. The second flashbang I tried again and he said it was absolutely horrifyingly white and he couldn't see a thing when I did it, but nothing happened for me. I then threw a frag that was pristine and nothing happened again.

Likely due to the population on stable being orders of magnitude larger than experimental.

So the game is not LITERALLY unplayable, because you can play it. It's just that your character gets wiped regularly. But you can still play it.

Not really - to test this you need several hundred servers run by various suppliers, updated correctly by their people, and a few dozen thousand players testing all of those different servers at the same time against the live hive

These things are to be expected. Your character could and will be deleted at any time without notice.

 

Sure you should get angry and annoyed if this happened when the game was released but cmon man at this early stage you should expect all this.

I've logged back into the same server after a reset without this issue. What kind of servers are they? Hardcore or Regular? Persistent enabled or not (meaning official BI servers or not)? If not is it a specific provider that you are logging into? And most of all is it stable or experimental?

 

Instead of telling the OP that its testing try helping to figure out why, you know, like testing.

I know the servers where having issues connecting to the central hive yesterday, could still be going on hence why you're starting afresh every time.

Youd be in for a suprise...EXP gets whiped every patch so if you migrate over you will come here again with he same complains.

As of now id stick to the official Servers. I have a selection on my favs that never failed me.

And..i hate to say it but....most People that seem to be ending up with cleared out CHARs where serverhopping like crazy...

And it does work, friend of mine got reset yesterday, quit quickly, joined other server, character back.

Bug tracker issue number says that it's the 78th bug reported, so it's not entirely new :)

 

It appears to be getting very common with 0.48 though (happened to me and 2 of the 3 guys I regularly play with). Which (in spite of appearances) might be a good thing since it'll help them track down the root problem.

Oh OK. I was just wondering because I was fully geared 2 days ago (after 0.48 came out) and I was playing with my friend in a server that restarted. After that we joined there again and we were fine. All of our equipment intact.

Seems logical that server hopping MIGHT force the issue, but when playing with friends showed that it happens to quite a few ppl.

Was a bigger issue a few months back, has not happened in months to me, now it seems to be an issue again. The reason might be a completely new one, the symptom is a fresh char.
