Just came out of experimental. Saw the same thing. About 30 lit up chem lights on hardcore Sing. 0-4 Everywhere I went there was some chemlights or flares lit up. Novo, Chernaya Polana, Gorka, Kragnostav, etc...  I did participate and lit up a few myself...

fun fun... I love finding mystery lights in the dark :) I usually just avoid the buildings they are in however. nothing screams "I'm gonna kill you!" better than strange lights in obvious places :p

still I can't resist approaching close enough to see  - the new lights are just too pretty

Are players really that cautios? When I hear gunfire or see lights I usually go in that direction. Of course I scout the area and take my time, but hell, theres no hesitation to investigate. Never did I pass that oportunity.

Honesty, best time I have are on night servers, tracking down other players. I pick up on their looting pattern and follow it. It is so exciting following the clues, dodging zombies, scouting the area with your binocs or scope and finnaly finding that guy. Is he alone or has he buddies protecting him from a snipers nest? Is he friendly or bandit? What will happen if he sees me? Can I stay unseen and keep following him? I do it with a friend and I can tell you, longer you lay proned in the grass looking down on a player or even an empty area, more paranoind you get! It's a blast.
