hotcakes 348 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) (DayZ) 9mm isn't that great, so let's make the MP5K great by making it a gr8 bullet hose. Edited August 3, 2014 by hotcakes
-Gews- 7443 Posted August 3, 2014 Nah, this is one of those huge magazines for civilians who want to do random mag dumps
Katana67 2907 Posted August 3, 2014 Why not? Although, I think the main issue with 9mm is that the weapons are no more common than their harder hitting .45 ACP counterparts. Or, they're no more common than their harder hitting 7.62x39, 7.62x51, and 5.56x45 counterparts. I still have yet to find an MP5K. So, if SMGs were a bit more common as to account for their shortcomings... and rifles were a bit rarer, then I think we'd see these weapons used a bit more often out of necessity.
-Gews- 7443 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Why not? Too fat! Besides the questionable "authenticity" of adding such a magazine (I can't envision anyone buying this for professional use on a 9mm submachine gun and the MP5K is supposed to be strictly military/police loot) it looks ridiculous, heavy, rattly, bulky, and otherwise impractical. And good luck storing it with THAT thing in a backpack. Edited August 3, 2014 by Gews
hotcakes 348 Posted August 4, 2014 Oh yeah, and the 30 round mags need to be flipped around so they're vertical and not horizontal. Their wideness goes against what every other mag in the game does.
applejaxc 2500 Posted August 4, 2014 If they added a MP5/10 (a 10mm version of the MP5) to DayZ, that'd be my go-to backup weapon. What they really need is a 125-round Mosin though.
way455 40 Posted August 4, 2014 Why not a belt feed right to your ammo boxes? *sarcasm*
NagsterTheGangster 388 Posted August 4, 2014 That is so fucking unneeded lolBut so fucking cool at the same time. Notice how that thing didnt even move while he unloaded the shit out of it?Now thats a sweet piece
degude 133 Posted August 4, 2014 I think the MP5 is already good enough. Such a magazine would just make it overpowered. Its an automatic weapon that fits into your backpack, so it's basically a second "primary" weapon. I know it's weaker but with the insane rate of fire and low recoil a 100 round mag would make this weapon too good. Maybe the downside could be that with the magazine attatched it doesn't fit into the backpack anymore. If the 100 round mag makes it into the game I'd still take it :P

You're basically shooting one mag (maybe a half if you have the 30 rounder) for each kill. 9mm has very mediocre ballistics compared to rifle cartridges. Giving the MP5K a hilariously large magazine would make it way better for combat.
Rigor Mortis (DayZ) 141 Posted August 4, 2014 I think this falls into the 'balance' category, and I'm always against doing something just for balance. If these were commonly used and made sense to find randomly I think it would be a different story... but as is I have to say no thanks.
theevancat 94 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Why not a belt feed right to your ammo boxes? *sarcasm* We have the technology. At least for LMGs. Seriously, it's like a cartoon. Edited August 4, 2014 by TheEvanCat

theevancat 94 Posted August 5, 2014 I can only imagine how heavy that must be... now, if I could mount it on a vehicle and have a gatling gun... oh wait :DI'd imagine it's just the ammo. Not sure how much it holds but it must be on par with a normal rucksack loaded with stuff.
tatne (DayZ) 3 Posted August 5, 2014 No, just NO!DayZ shouldn't be some "tacticool shooter with modern equipment". We have wasteland mod for that.It is about zombie apocalypse in realistic environment, in Russia in this case. You would NEVER find 100 round mp5 mag in real life, never. Make bigger variety of hunting weapons and craftable weapons.
KingofTheWorld 44 Posted August 5, 2014 Forget it only one m60 or any russian light machine gun you can have 100 round in game but as you know its really hard to carry those weapons it will make you slow down. Im looking forward to see any lightmachine gun in game, we already have ammo box for them.
