I remember when I got my hands on my first 14.4k modem, never really had any internet connection issues after that.

I've played DayZ on some really awful connections (500k down/200k up) and some really great connections (200m down/150m up) and the experience remains fairly consistent. As long as you're not on dial-up, you should be fine. That said, don't expect the game to be 100% smooth either and keep your graphics settings realistic.

A few month earlier when dayz was using not optimized netcode you will need at least 2Mb but now you will be fine with -+1Mb/s.

I am not sure of my speeds but I have no broadband at home. I play with a 3G vodem stick or I tether with my Galaxy S4. I'm also only in a 3G extended zone so not full 3G and no 4g. (I wish!)

Pings around 100 to 200 most of the time and I play on mostly Australian servers from New Zealand. Overall it's still playable. I get a random lag spike or desync but I can still get the drop on most zombies and players. I can't wait for optimisation or broadband though but for now it's okay.

Theoretical maximum in my case.
