technology to scan a face's for a unique character

Recommended Posts

Developers need to introduce the technology to scan a face's for a unique character in the game.
(That's realistic. Can remember and recognize the person in the face, if it is not masked. And more ...)
+ Be the built-in models face.

Sincerely, Shura

... reminds me of something that happened in correlation with another piece of awesome tech. What was it again?

Oh yeah, Nerve Gear from Sword Art Online. See how well that worked out for them.

I'd accept this if we did have nerve gear but that ain't happening for a while and thus i don't see the need.

Nerve gear?

Fictional thing from an Anime called Sword Art Online. (Check it out, if only the first episode. Its awesome.)

Basically Full VR, disables your body and lets you use your brain to control your movements. I want it to happen but I doubt that i'll ever see it. The by product was that it could scan your face.

Would be a cool idea, i just assume it would take a lot of resources on the developers side, and on the client side.

Maybe they could just do like what Bethesda games do. Make a bunch of custom stuff you can monkey around with.

Maybe we'll be ready for that in DayZ2: Mists of Pulkovo.

There is many technology to scan a faces. With help of a web camera (or scanner type kinekt) doing photo. It is superimposed on the head model. PROFIT.)
ЗЫ. My friend did a similar program for a boutique clothing store
Вот так вот. На самом деле это не сложно, даже для одного толкового программиста. Было бы время и желание.
А для игры такая фича будет в самый раз.

Maybe... maybe....

I would rather not see people running around with dog heads or private parts for their face...

This is nonsense! You come up with it yourself? There are 100% algorithms that scan certain points of the face!

If you can scan a face you can also scan if its a legit face - you need this for animations anyways.

Object recognition (ie facial recognition) is an _incredibly_ complex part of computer science... although there _are_ programs out there that can pick a face out of a picture, they are far from 100% accurate or reliable.  No one would be shot or arrested solely on a computer's interpretation of a picture.

In a video game, the only real method to do something like this and avoid troll faces is to have a _person_ take a look at every custom face and approve it manually... and I seriously doubt anyone would want to pay for that feature.  Perhaps they could add this with a small fee attached and see if anyone bites.  I'd be willing to pay a buck or two to get my face on my character.

Oh god, little kids would find a way to make their characters have rage faces or something.

PLS

It's not as difficult as it sounds, as I recall one of the Tiger Woods PGA games did it, you took a picture of the front, left and right sides of the face. But as previously mentioned..... Dicks!

Honestly I'd rather just see the standard create a character sliders for face and body type, easier todo fewer peckerheads and let's more people have custom toons
