d.walker43 196 Posted July 22, 2014 Well, I shot my first friendly guy. I was at the police station, idk what town, and when I came downstairs he was sitting there with his hands on his head. I quickly pulled out my mosin and aimed it at him, and demanded in the mic that he respond. I was asking if he was friendly or not, and he wouldn't respond. So I shot him, then looked through his stuff, only to find a can of beans and some rags. If that player sees this, im sorry. I shot him out of panic, as I had been killed earlier by a guy at the NE airfield who did literally the same exact thing I did. Except I was talking when I had my hands on my head. Anyway, what would you guys have done in this situation?
rybo 171 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) I would have ran right past him... Only cause I'd assume it was a trap to get me to stay. Especialy if he didn't type back or respond in any manner. That normally means they are on a 3rd partry voice chat with someone. Noobs don't know how to surrender without first knowing how to type or talk in direct. solodude23 649 Posted July 22, 2014 Well since he wasn't communicating I'd have just left him.

nettles 396 Posted July 22, 2014 Why didn't you have a gun drawn to begin with? Even if you weren't planning on shooting someone, it would still be wise to be ready. You could have still just run past him, when they're doing that animation for the time being they're pretty much frozen and helpless. There's a lot of things that could be done differently, but what happened happened. Don't kick yourself.
leviathanapsu 94 Posted July 22, 2014 He probably did that because he had to step afk despite where he was and figured if he was in the surrender position, people would just loot and run or at least not kill him outright. That, or he wasn't responding because he was taking time to try and type something without a mic.

I have yet to be shot but I'm also guessing I have yet to be found doing it. When I do that it's cause I'm geared out and have to afk in a building. If I don't have any gear I noramlly don't remember to do it. Fear hasn't yet kicked in, lol. Edited July 22, 2014 by RyBo

Ever dumped all your gear in a bush then run to nearby area to AFK? Could be a bit of insurance. Does stuff left on the ground stay till server restart?

I did wait for a little while though before I shot him, I waited long enough that he would have had the time to quickly type "friendly" or something of the sort
Jesterarts 85 Posted July 22, 2014 Or he could have had his Mic muted.Had a similar situation a while ago, I was talking without realising I had flicked my Mic off.Only realised the issue after I surrendered and was handcuffed. Then the saga if finding something to get be out if the handcuffs started... If the server restarts everything on the ground gets wiped. But, I do play only on one server so I know when it's going to restart. Luckly it's a 40/40 server too. I've been know to ditch my gear in bushes to loot Mil buildings and dead player bodys. Haven't tried hiding my gear in a bush outside of the building yet. It would be situationall but a good idea. Parazight 1599 Posted July 22, 2014 He could have been trying to trap you. It's a common occurrence to find fresh spawns of a clan's group doing recon like that. He was probably relaying your position to his mates so they intercept and kill you. You totally did the right thing. That new spawn deserved to die.
Mark Darkers 151 Posted July 22, 2014 Same thing, no vocal response = suspicious = I shoot him. It's not panic, it's simply instinct. Don't feel bad about it everybody would have done the same.
