A very big complaint

Welcome to the apocalypse. Now, imagine you are actually in one - would you have an online-map and / or Teamspeak to figure out where you are?

You are supposed to be lost when it's the first time playing. This is a design-choice.

I would awaken on the beach, turn on my android phone and pull up the stored map I have of the apocalypse area. It's just the way I roll, but I imagine others don't carry an apocalypse map with them, which would make it more difficult.

I hope that the zombie apocalypse will ever come to REAL LIFE because you're on thin ice, mate.

Well, chances are he'll be caught somewhere he's very familiar with if some sort of post-apocalyptic disaster happens.

Zombies themselves are incredibly implausible, though.

We use online maps and skype. I am not joking about it either. We spent 3 REAL days searching for each other. We had to go by the direction of the sun to find each other, and it was not very easy to use. IRL you would know something about where you live and most likely your friends would have adresses/celphones/some sort of way to contact others. I know celphones would eventually stop working, but still. I do not enjoy playing scary games alone. They freak me out too much.

Sounds like you need practice reading a map. How old are you btw?

Perhaps you should read all my posts. I state that I enjoy zombie games, but I'm more a strategist than a combatative type. I like a little bit of challenge, but I don't like it if it's extreme. DayZ is interesting to me beacuse I can create stories for the character I create for fun, tell her story and draw pictures around it. Zombie and survival games are definitely my favorites because they are very strategic and fast paced usually. This game piqued my interest because one can find others and perhaps form a group, there will be others who want the things you have, and then of course I hope they allow your group to inhabit places. That would be nice.

I read all your posts. You said specifically, in the one I quoted, that you play games "not like hardcore live or die kind of things," and yet you decided to pick up DayZ, which is exactly that.

So again I say to you, why the shit are you playing DayZ? Do you not do any kind of research before you plunk money down for games or what?

Read my other posts before posting things of this sort. I stated before that I was not really the one traveling. I'd find out where I was and the other girls would travel to me. Age does not matter. I suppose people don't see the point in teaching half blind kids how to read maps.

I did research. I watched many playthroughs, read reviews, etc. I decided to go for it anyway because it sounded interesting. is there something wrong with trying something new? I like most aspects of the game and I'm sure they will improve it a great deal before it's completed.

lol no. No casual mode. I'm sorry to say, this game just ain't for you if you want a casual mode, it should only be getting harder from here on out. Learn about the game from outside sources ect. But ingame, it's going to be brutal, so have fun or don't. Just don't go trying to change that on us.

Lol you got shot at on a 'friendly' server? How can that be.

yes I know. It's not so easy with 2 or 3. Plus the blood loss while traveling makes it extremely difficult. Especially since we mostly play on empty servers so nobody can KOS us. I may be somewhat new to this game, but I learned all the controls in the first 15 minutes, and learned a lot about the game on the first day. I don't know everything, but I think I know enough.

Pm me i will tell you some secrets on blood loss....

I can ask my friends where they are and with landmarks i know where they are..

Just learn the map, trust me i can run around the whole map just bout and not get lost,i only have problems when i load back in because you move around..

When I first started playing dayz mod I was always solo, then got into groups/clans and now I am back to only playing solo. It helps a lot, you learn at your own pace and aren't rushing around to meet up with people.

You and your friends would benefit from a few days playing solo. I imagine you'll all find different things, and when you do group up everyone will bring something new to the table.

As others have said, this game is only going to get more difficult over time. If the developers put in casual modes or whatever, I can guarantee you a couple months later the entire community will be gone. I personally think zombies, no matter what game/book/show/film, are the most boring piece of fiction man has ever come up with. I'm only here for the challenges dayz provides.

Good luck

We did use that map, we used signs + the direction of the sun to guide us, but got lost very often. I can't even count how many times my friend Joan completely missed Novoselky and ended up in Chernogorsk or Dubky. I know they're gonna fix most of it, I am just very frustrated because of all the time we've put into just finding one another and it just doesn't work at all.

They will never add an in game map or way of you knowing where you are at all.

Zombies are severly underpowered, they want you to be terrified of attracting zombies. When they actually work on zombies, they are going to be smarter, more powerful, and a ton more of them.

they are not going to make a casual version. Why did you and your friends choose this game to play? This game is intended to be a realistic zombie apocalypse SURVIVAL game. People can shoot you if they want. There's no in game map because in real life you don't wash up on a beach with a gps. And zombies are a deadly thing. They caused an apocalypse.

Only thing they will fix is the headshot thing. Headshots with most viable weapons do kill zombies, but the melee system is off. When you are aiming for the head the game doesn't register as it aiming for the head.

I have a feeling you are a troll though because I feel no one who was looking for these things would have decided to play this game unless they didn't know what a survival game was.

:P We have been trying for 4 days. Plus I don't see so well so it's harder for me to do things. I mostly like games for their creative side and not like hardcore live or die kind of things. I'm hoping there can be more than just regular and hardcore. Casual please ^u^

Regular and hardcore are not really meant to be difficulty levels. The only difference is hardcore must be played in first person so third person "cheating tactics" as some view them as can not be used.

When you spawn, head for the coast and figure out where you are. There are very few spawns more then a few hundreds feet from the coast. Then there is no way you couldn't find eachother. Just run the tracks till you hit eachother.

Also, the reason you can't spawn as a group is it doesn't make sense. The story goes you randomly wash up on the beach and the world is in turmoil. Everything after that is a story you create.

It is a realistic survival game. Things like maps and zombies that aren't a big threat and people always being friendly are no where near realistic. You need to understand the genre of game you are playing. It is meant to be a hard game. That's why they make it and that's why most people started playing it.

Also, just wanted to point out after reading another post of yours, your screen turns gray due to blood loss ( as I think you know). Your blood comes back if you are healthy, well fed, and hydrated.

When you spawn with nothing, zombies are supposed to be a huge danger. The game is intended to be realistic in the sense that before finding weapons, supplies, or anything else (including friends located across the country), your immediate need is locating food and drinking water, as you wake up on the beach starving and thirsty. If you eat a good amount of food and drink a good amount of water, a little blood loss will not be a big deal as long as you bandage quickly.

Also, once you get with your friends and start finding supplies, carrying a bag of your own blood with you will be invaluable. If you go unconcious due to blood loss, or just need to fill your blood up quickly, your friend can give you the blood via an IV. It's important to not mix the bags up though, as there are many different blood types, as in real life, and if you get the wrong type you will die. (besides the exceptions that are compatible with others, like in real life. I don't know them off hand)

You can of course find blood test kits, but it is much more efficient and worthwhile in general to just carry your own blood with you, so when you need it they can just take it out of your bag and administer it to you. (you will need an IV kit to administer it though).

Adding one more thing after reading further, I'm glad you tried the game and like some aspects, but you are only going to frustrate yourself hoping for it to get easier. It will get easier in the sense that over time you will learn locations and it will be easier to find eachother, you'll know the good spots to look for supplies and weapons and such, and things like that. But surviving and zombies are only going to get more difficult.

You are correct that the game will be getting much better as it gets closer to release. But this actually means it will be HARDER. They have stated they wish to make zombies much more deadly. (most people consider them more of a nuisance or ignore them completely as they are) Not only more deadly, but they are going to add large groups of them instead of lone zombies, make them more numerous, and make them more reactive to sound and smarter in general. For instance, they want the game to get to the point where shooting a gun near a city or town will probably result in the death of anyone in it that doesn't have a large enough group to fend them off.

Also the health system. Besides blood loss, they are going to add a number of ailments and diseases into the game. There is alot of medical supplies that does nothing right now, but eventually these will be valuable for surviving.

Many things in this game are going to get more difficult. Right now, after you play for a while, you'll learn zombies are no real threat if you know how to run or have a gun. Sickness, hunger, and dehydration are no issue. Players are the only real danger in this game. They intend to make zombies and basic necessities like water and medical supplies the real challenge in the game. On top of players robbing you for these now valuable resources.

By the way, If you don't already know, you can drink water out of wells and ponds to get fully hydrated right now with no risk of disease. In the future you will need to purify all water besides bottled water or risk disease.

There is a great video explaining how the hunger and thirst systems work and the math and reasoning behind it(everything from how to know how full you are to how much blood gets regenerated at each level or how many calories are in a can of beans). You should definitely give it a watch. I'm sure a simple search will turn it up, I can't get to it at the moment.

Nothing wrong with that, and while I will admit that it may end up legitimately not being the game for you, don't let the negativity of some posters be what puts you off. If you and your friends decide you want a guide you can PM me.

It becomes a bit more difficult when you have eye problems.

Yeah that maybe sucks but you can't blame that on the game.

Id recommend brushing up your map skills.

If you just learn to identify major roads and intersections once youve identified what town your in, there is no excuse to get lost.

It just might take a bit longer.

If you choose to cut through wilderness thats your risk of getting lost.

In DayZ zeds are not zombies in the classic sense, they are infected, we go round and round on this but it is true, think 29 Days Later or The Crazies rather than Night of the Living Dead or Walking Dead.  One or two hits to the cranium of a zed with a machete or splitting axe or even garden hoe will take a zed down, anything else, except a fire axe is pretty much useless melee wise.

Were you all ON THE SAME SERVER when looking for your friends?  Just asking, not trying to flame or piss you off but it seems no one has asked the obvious.

Once you run around a bit you'll all be more familiar with the land marks and can set up some meet sites that are easy for everyone to find that are in low population relatively safe areas.  Stay away from cities and the Black Forest (it crawls with Zeds for some reason) as much as possible.

I would agree but since the same map is used from dayz mod then a lot of people know where they are from years of playing another game. I for one didn't like arma because of the darn ..."MAN at TWO o'clock"... Just couldn't stand that unrealistic shot at signal calling from npc.

I see people in youtube videos who know how to get to each town no matter where they are at. Me I'm lost all the time since I have not had the time on this map. Now maybe when I play longer I will figure it out.

In a real apocalypse you can bet your a$$ I know where I'm at in my local town even without an online map or teamspeak.

My friends and I decided we wanted to all get DayZ because it sounded like fun to play together. None of us like PVP, and we mostly just wanted to explore around with eachother. it took us 3 REAL LIFE days to find each other. Finally this evening, we were in the same town, but before we could meet, my friend died. It is IMPOSSIBLE to meet friends because no matter how hard you try,  you will end up either dead before meeting, or end up at opposite ends of the continent. There NEEDS to be a way to find friends easier, This is something that is NOT optional in game we play. I'm poorly sighted so I have the hardest time surviving very long. Therefore, I'm usually the one who is told to hide out in a building and just wait for my friends to arrive, which just never happens. There are three reasons why:

People kill them on sight in supposedly friendly servers.

Zombies can go through the damn walls.

Zombies are like super overpowered especially when you first spawn in and have nothing.

No map system that is easy to find/use. We had to rely on the direction of the sun to find eachother and it literally took us 3 days to get to eachother through all this. Sigh... I do NOT wanna play this with a bunch of dicks who just want to shoot me on sight. I want to play with my friends.

I'll just come back in a few months to try again. Love the game, hate the difficulty. Maybe they'll add a casual mode for more creative people to enjoy. The last small rant I will leave you with is the lack of headshots on zombies. In most zombie games, if you hit it in the head 1-2 times it's dead. Just sayin.

Bro if they made this game any easier than it already is for a survival game it would be hello kitty online adventures MMORPG, which i suggest you try it sounds more your speed. This game really is so easy it isnt funny. I think my first 2 hrs in game EVER i died to a zombie 3-4 times, after that I haven't died once outside of glitches, bugs, or general lag. So yeah......

THanks for the support. ^^ They both quit but I'm still playing. They may play again the near future though. One quit because of her RL situation. The other is just plain annoyed. It doesn't bother me anymore, I have been using the tops handed down to me on this post and I've gotten better at surviving. :)
