Feedback shooting injury

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this was ever suggested ; I tried to find a topic without success.

Would it be possible to have some kind of feedback about where i'm shoot at?

For example, some text in bottom of the screen : "I'm being shot in the back", "My rigth side is hurting"

Or some graphic info, like red line on the right screen if my char is shot at his right.

I've never been shot at, but I suppose you can distinguish, even with your eyes closed, that the bullet entry is in your back or sides.

There is to some extent, for example when you get shot in the leg you character will say "my leg is extremely painful".

Yeah I think it's alright as it is, typically if you're not shot in the arms or legs you die pretty quick anyway or at least fall to the ground.

Well actually, I got that idea while shooting someone in the back yesterday (I was avenging my friend who had been killed)

I shot him in the back with my moslin one time, he survived, froze, walked again and I killed him for good.

I thought that it must have been frustrating for him to not know where that came from, because if he knew, he could have killed me with his SKS just by turning around.

edit: grammar again, i have to reread myself before posting!

Yes, I get that message help me to know where I'm hurted, but It doesn't tell me "From where" I'm hurted

Edit: does "Hurted" is a valid past tense?

If this going to be implanted in the game then I want them to also make extra hit boxes for balls and ass. With separate hit box for left and right buttock of course

Another COD suggestion......

After awhile you learn to be this magical thing called

ob·serv·ant

adjective: quick to notice things.

In other words, you can see blood come out of your character when you are shot, or dust kick up on the ground around you if they cant shoot. Also the sound of where the shot came from will tell you where they are at. I think that's enough information to shoot down this suggestion.

Srry, don't know your COD reference. I don't play shooters in general.

I'm just suggesting some kind of feedback that would replicate the info that gives me my nervous system.

Not every one has a 7.1 surround headset, so sound feedback can be misleading.

While I always play in first person, I can't see easily where the blood come from

Again, I suggest something to complete the simulation in terms of feedback.

Sound = ear feedback

Blood dropping = sight feedback

How can I replicate my nervous sytem feedback, where the pain come from?

PS: Not being precious, but no need to being condescendant with your comments. I'm quite knew in the forum, I'm not responsible for your previous debates

The crescent in this picture is the COD reference I was talking about.

In your post you should mention you are suggesting things for hardcore. I do think hardcore needs something that lets you know where you got shot, where as in regular you have your magic 3DP camera following you around at all times so you can see shit happening way better.

And yes, you are right, not every has a nice head set, I don't. $15 at Wal-Mart for my mic and 2 speakers that came with the office PC my dad bought. Yet I still out shoot and out live anyone I play with and most that I play against. You don't need a good computer or good accessories to be good at a game so don't say not having something puts you at a disadvantage.

And yeah, I'm sorry for being a prick. It tends to happen when you see suggestions like this all day every day. Nothing personal :P

Left right system works.

It's rather simple. If you can't see the guy in front of you he is either on your side or behind you. If he is behind you or at your blind spot and he managed to shot you, feedback won't help you because before you can turn aim and fire you are dead.

Thx for the example. In fact, I would find a implementation like your screenshot too invasive for Dayz playstyle. I don't have THE idea for the solution, just expressed a feature I would find usefull.

And yeah, I'm not complaining on my fate or inability ti play ; I had the idea while I was killing someone, call that empathy if you want  :P

My current char have live for several hours and survived his share of encounter, in squad or alone, so yeah, you're right saying it'S not mendatory to survive.

No hard feeling! I sensed the built-up in you from previous topics  ;)

Actually this would be great, we don't need the thing in COD that basically says he's RIGHT OVER THERE SHOOT HIM but a general direction would be nice, anyone who survived a shot would obviously know they got shot in the back but in game it's just ow my arm is sore.

Depends on the situation though they might be a shit shot with a Mosin or just a spray and prayer with an M4/AKM or any gun really, maybe even a Longhorn.

This would be good, it would give people who IRL would probably survive some chance to fight back instead of having to look for movement everywhere we know to look behind us and possibly see the inaccurate douche desperately reloading.

But like if someone is a good shot, you're probably still going to die so it's not like it gives you an advantage it just helps you fight off otherwise skill-less fools who currently get to abuse that you don't know where shots are coming from and hope their 30 bullets hit.

I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing. But, in case where you can't see the enemy (a well hidden sniper, pitch dark night), precise pain feedback is jsut another stimuli that can help figure the situation and help making a better decision.

The nature gave us a nervous system to help us locate pain/injury we don't/can't see.

I don't find my suggestion that out-of-place for a game that relies quite a bit on "simulation"

Yeah so long as we don't get an arrow pointing to the bush they're in there's nothing wrong with it as a system.

"Ah! I've been shot in the back!" can still mean a huge area behind you it's not like "Ah someone at coordinates X,Y,Z shot me!"

Hunting someone for fun I'd much rather my game have a chance to fight back, just shooting and killing people is extremely boring and easy, not to mention cowardly I want the chance to be defeated by someone as good or better than me. Not just shoot them in the back and they die instantly.

I totally agree with your point of view. I surely don't want a precise input of where the guys shooting me is. He can have multiple angles to hit me in the back. But the general area where you are being hit can give you the idea where you should go for cover before fighting back.

Thank you! I suspected that I was wrong there!

I consider my english not that bad since it's not my first language, but I hate to massacre a language!

No biggie, I think nobody has spotted your mistake. Nobody needs to know. It never happened.

*Ahum*

On topic:

I don't think it drastically changes the game if the devs decide to implement something like this. On the other hand, not having it won't ruin my gaming experience. For me, it won't be necesarry. Sound is all I need if it wouldn't bug out at times *shakes fist*.

There could be a tiiiiiny bit of feedback, but not too much.

Perhaps just the body-part that is hurting. "My back is hurting" could mean a 180 degree area from which the shot could have come.

I can't imagine someone registering the direction where a shot came from if he got hit. I haven't ever been shot, so I can't help you there, unfortunately :p

Being shot is just being hit really, really hard in a small area.  You will be knocked away from the impact direction a small amount (not like the movies, but there is momentum imparted) and you will have a hole in you that very directly points to the direction you were shot from.  Although giving a precise heading would be silly, it's stupid to think that you would have no idea which direction that injury came from.  For a good example, shoot a friend with a bb gun... I guarantee they will turn straight in your direction.
