what would be the cheapest custom built pc for dayz mod

Recommended Posts

Mine = $400.

Its a toaster, but I get so much out of it its ridiculous.

In DayZ I get avg. 40+FPS with lows in the 20's like most in large towns.. 1080p and can twitch stream/record gameplay if I want.

Motherboard made of Potato - 775 socket ($40)

Intel Q9650 3.0ghz CPU ($90)

MSI Nvidia 550ti 1gb ($90)

8gb RAM ($50)

Win 7 Enterprise 64-Bit ($0)

OCZ Vertex4 SSD 128gb ($80)

1TB WD HDD ($40 - used)

Hand me down case ($10)

I play on my TV monitor.. that cost me no extra.

Then my peripherals I paid extra for since I was serious about playing dayz with them.

Razor Mamba mouse ($120)

Astro A40 Headset w/mixamp ($240)

Razor Nostromo keyboard/joystick ($60)

Cheap Wireless Keyboard ($20) barely used for dayz

Playing DayZ on my couch = Priceless. :D

how much would the cheapest set up be

Irish's rig is a great example of a budget build. Plenty capable of running DayZ with good results.

I imagine he assembled, if you pay for a service like IbuyPower then you will of course pa a bit more.

No reason to pay more than 500$ for a gaming system. Don't be afraid to assemble but no shame in ticking the custom boxes and having it magically appear on your doorstep in a couple weeks. Although sometimes the builders don't properly seat the components, like memory. Cruise Newegg and practice "building" a package.

To be clear - are you looking for a build suggestion for DayZ Standalone or DayZ Mod? They're different.

Irish,

I have a set up similar to yours and I was wondering if my computer was capable of live streaming/ and making videos in 1080p. Sounds like with a few small upgrades, and I'll be good to do some recording. Mainly my RAM and add another hard drive. These are the generals of my build, I'd have to dig out boxes and receipts to find the specifics.

ASRock 775 socket mother board

Intel Wolfdale 2.9 GHz dual core processor

MSI 1 GHz video card

4 GHz RAM

250 GHz Western Digital hard drive

Windows 7 64 bit

Cooler Master tower, cheap cordless keyboard and mouse.

You are 100% correct about playing DayZ on the couch, there's no other way to play it!

I'm usually flanked by a beer and a Jack Russell while playing.
