freethink 984 Posted July 6, 2014 For me, it's Zelenogorst (sw of the map.) I'm happy with anything over 30fps but in Zel I was in single figures for a while. It's a huge, huge place. Also I heard reports from people saying Svet was terrible but although I took a hit I am always in the high twenties. Similar with Novo. (I'm playing in exp. 0.47 with a nvidia gtx570m) So where's the worst for you?
TheGreatPerson 12 Posted July 6, 2014 Novodimtrivorsk. It's HUGE. I only get like 27 fps there.
freethink 984 Posted July 6, 2014 Novodimtrivorsk. It's HUGE. I only get like 27 fps there. I get similar there but zel is a whole other level of stuttering frames. Have you been?
SFRGaming 718 Posted July 6, 2014 I noticed Zeleno is rather bad. Now, I was quite surprised the other day. I ran through Novod on Exp and I held 30-40 fps with everything maxed.
sabre05 351 Posted July 6, 2014 I get shit FPS in the 3 sets of apartment complexes above Cherno/Balota. Drops to about 12 FPS then the desync hits harder.
Irish. 4886 Posted July 6, 2014 Zeleno is known for being a hotbed of Zed activity.. and if you're there when other players are its even worse FPS wise. Zelenogorsk is bad, but in general for most players Novo is the worst area for FPS performance due to its size and cluster near other large towns..
frosti 2165 Posted July 6, 2014 Zelenogorsk for me. Before I go there I always make sure to have freshly restarted PC to not have game crash in there.
zecele 211 Posted July 6, 2014 Svetlogorsk is the worst for me.
hotcakes 348 Posted July 6, 2014 Svetlo. Ironically one of the places I like the most.
frosti 2165 Posted July 6, 2014 Svetlo. Ironically one of the places I like the most. Hmmm I've never been in Svetlo or Novo tho every time I'm getting even near upper right corner of the map my PC is getting all sweaty mom's sphagetti.

Just looking at Svetlo or Novo while at the NEAF will make your FPS drop.. lol

KingOfTime 267 Posted July 8, 2014 Zelenogorsk is unplayable for me. Down to 17 fps.
hombrecz 832 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) Not sure if nobody goes to Elektro anymore, but my frames are going down like crazy there.I remember going there from power plant firestation and frames took hit to like 17 (had object detail on normal) once I got closer to supermarket. This made me bug off there quick as hell and once I reached train station and was looking towards Cherno, frames got up noticeably.Oh how I cant wait for client optimalisation :-/. frosti 2165 Posted July 8, 2014 What is causing the FPS drop in cities anyway? Building models? Items that are inside buildings? Player network bubble collision with items in buildings?
SFRGaming 718 Posted July 8, 2014 What is causing the FPS drop in cities anyway? Building models? Items that are inside buildings? Player network bubble collision with items in buildings? It's the trees, as well as how the engine renders the insides of buildings and the proxies within. All of that was being worked on with our current engine around the time Svet was put in, but the development halted when the new engine was decided as their new solution. Then no wonder Zelenogorks is so bad, it's in the valley surrounded by trees.
SFRGaming 718 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) The trees? Then no wonder Zelenogorks is so bad, it's in the valley surrounded by trees. No, rather the new-ish trees in the town. The "Common" evergreen tree we have that covers 70+% of Chernarus is very simple and easy to render. Some of those big yellow arma 2 trees and the new trees they modeled just for DayZ SA have complex branch systems and are very high detail. Intricate tress with detailed branches take a lot to render, especially if you have AA and Edge Smoothing maxed. Go to that mound of yellow trees NW of Vybor and I bet your FPS will drop significantly. Edited July 8, 2014 by SFRGaming
